Job summary

Massachusetts Eye and Ear is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant to support the care team in an outpatient clinic. You will perform vision testing, administer eye drops, and assist the ophthalmologist with minor procedures under supervision, while maintaining exam rooms and equipment.

Ideal candidates will have a High School Diploma or equivalent and strong interpersonal skills. Experience in healthcare is preferred; 0–1 year is acceptable and training is provided.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain exam rooms and ensure supplies are available.

• Handle, store, and transport specimens, instruments, and medications.
• Support administrative and patient-facing activities, including triage calls.
• Provide cross-coverage at other ophthalmology services as needed.
• Follow hospital policies and applicable regulations and standards.
