Primary Responsibilities:
  1. Participate in patient care delivery, including preliminary screenings like visual acuity, history taking, tonometry, lensometry, motility, pupil assessment, visual fields, color vision tests, and refraction under close supervision. Examine the eye using a slit lamp and note variations from normal. Assist with dilation, anesthetic drops, and contact lens training.
  2. Manage supplies and maintain the exam environment. Clean, stock, and order supplies as needed. Prepare instruments for sterilization and monitor equipment calibration and maintenance.
  3. Handle clerical tasks such as scheduling, call screening, messaging, recording prescriptions, and filing test results and correspondence in medical records.
  4. Maintain a positive, respectful, and confidential environment, interacting courteously with patients, visitors, and staff. Resolve conflicts constructively and contribute to a positive workplace atmosphere.
  5. Engage in professional development by maintaining competencies, identifying learning needs, and supporting colleagues' growth.
  6. Perform other related duties as needed.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in customer service.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • JCAHPO certification as an Ophthalmic Assistant.
  • BLS Certification.

The hourly rate ranges from $19.86 to $38.85, based on full-time employment, experience, certifications, and other factors.
