Washington University in St Louis is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant to provide administrative and technical support in a clinical setting. Key responsibilities include managing patient records, assisting with clinical evaluations, and instructing patients on care procedures. Applicants should possess a high school diploma and relevant certifications, with a focus on patient care and communication skills.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Maintains patient records and schedules appointments in IDX.
Answers phones, greets patients, verifies correct billing information and prepares chart for office visit.
Assists with the clinical work up of patients, including visual acuity, applanation pressures, history, keratometry, autorefraction, color vision, stereopsis and EYESYS.
Instructs patient in the proper care and insertion/removal of contact lenses. Modifies and/or polishes contacts.
Maintains inventory of materials and cleans instruments. Maintains examination rooms and supplies.
