Job summary

North Sky Communications, LLC is seeking a Telecom Drill Bores Operator to install underground telecommunications cables. This is a travel-heavy role; you will primarily travel within the Pacific Northwest, with costs and per diems covered.

Expect responsibilities such as determining bore paths, locating utilities, and maintaining schedules. The position requires a High School Diploma or GED, a valid Class A CDL (tanker endorsement preferred or willing to obtain), and experience with drilling

Job description

At North Sky Communications, LLC, as a Telecom Drill Bores Operator, you’ll be responsible for operating drill equipment to install underground telecommunications cables and infrastructure. This is a travellling drill operator position with the ability to travel up to 100% of the time, dependingon the business needs. Travel costs and per diems are covered, and travel will be primarily within the Pacific Northwest including but not limited to: Oregon, Washington, Idaho, California, Montana, Nevada, and Arizona.

What you’ll do

• Determine bore path and locate utilities
• Safely operate and control all necessary equipment to complete assigned tasks
• Verify existing utilities by potholing to determine bore path
• Develop and maintain a bore schedule
• Responsible for site set-up, clean-up, and equipment maintenance
• Perform work in all weather conditions
• Other duties as assigned

What you’ll need

• To be 18 years of age or older; preferrably 21 years or older in order to be able to cross state lines in commercial vehicles
• Authorization to work in the United States for this company
• High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
• Valid state driver's license (cannot be Provisional), including an acceptable driving record and willingness to obtain Class A CDL license
• Valid Class A Commercial driver's license with tanker endorsement or willingness to obtain it
• Experience with drilling equipment, including their capabilities, limitations, and drill setup and design processes

Physical abilities & exposures

• Routinely: work with arms above shoulder level, in confined space and remote locations, operate vehicle and heavy machinery, squeeze, fine hand motion, bend, stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs and lift greater than 55 pounds
• Occasionally: use ladder, keyboard and mouse
