Job summary

Star Construction, LLC is seeking an Operator of Telecom Aerial Equipment in Owensboro, KY. This field-based, hourly role involves operating bucket trucks and aerial lifts to install, maintain, and repair overhead telecom lines, with emphasis on safety and efficiency.

You will work with a team to restore services during emergencies, travel as needed, and follow all applicable regulations while contributing to positive project execution and customer outcomes.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Authorization to work in the United States.
• High school diploma, GED or equivalent work experience.
• Valid state driver’s license with at least two years of driving experience and clean record.
• Six months of supervised aerial telecom equipment operation experience.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Willing to work overtime, weekends, and extended hours as needed.
• Capable of working safely in all weather conditions and temperatures.
• Strong self-starter with effective communication.

Responsibilities

• Operate bucket trucks, aerial lifts, and other telecom equipment at job sites and during transit.
• Install, maintain, and repair overhead fiber optic and telecommunications lines while following industry standards.
• Perform general construction tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds and using hand tools.
• Follow directions to complete tasks efficiently while complying with safety regulations.
• Restore work areas by securing poles, managing cables, and ensuring proper alignment of telecom lines.
• Travel for emergency response efforts with short notice to assist with network restoration.
• Identify utility conflicts and ensure proper clearance for aerial installations.
• Review and adhere to minimum approach distances near electrical infrastructure.
• Maintain positive work relationships with internal teams, contractors, and utility partners.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors to ensure efficient project execution.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What you’ll need

• Must be 18 years of age or older

• High school diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
• Valid state driver’s license with a minimum of two years of driving experience and an acceptable driving record
• Six months of supervised aerial telecom equipment operation experience
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• Willing to work overtime, weekends, and extended hours as needed
• Capable of working safely in all weather conditions, including high winds and extreme temperatures
• Strong self-starter with effective communication skills
