Job Summary

Responsible for starting, stopping, and monitoring equipment, including reading gauges and meters, and recording activities in operating logs and records. Uses computers and monitoring equipment to measure, record, and make adjustments within operating parameters. Performs a variety of plant maintenance tasks, including diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment in a safe, efficient, and economical manner. Performs overhaul maintenance and system improvement tasks. Conducts chemical analyses and maintains chemistry logs for steam, cooling, and condensate systems. Assists in developing standard operational procedures and provides input for plant improvements to enhance efficiency, reliability, and safety. Ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and plant procedures. Regularly maintains plant security, operates heavy equipment such as manlifts and forklifts, and handles bulk chemicals.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform technical service/support duties that are semi-routine in nature.
  • Make routine and non-routine decisions with some latitude, subject to approval.
  • Prioritize and execute responsibilities effectively within a single trade or related tasks, with limited guidance.
  • Work periodically reviewed; demonstrate solid performance.
  • Identify deviations from accepted practices and resolve most issues, referring only complex problems to higher levels.

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma, technical/vocational degree, military service, or equivalent.
  • Typically 6 years of directly related experience, including knowledge of health and safety regulations, hazardous energy, chemicals, and waste handling.
  • Experience with test equipment, calibration appliances, machinery repair, and control systems.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude; basic understanding of chemistry, physics, electricity, and mathematics.
  • Basic certifications/licensures; valid state driver’s license.

Salary Range

  • $54.22 - $57.96 per hour
