Job summary

Southwire Company is seeking a Screening Operator in Huntersville, NC to manage the safe and efficient operation of the screening line for high and medium voltage cable designs. You will ensure SOP adherence, oversee line changes, and keep production documenting records throughout the shift.

The role requires the ability to lead a small team, operate hand tools including welding and crimping, and drive continuous improvements while maintaining clean, safe working conditions.

Qualifications

• Experience operating screening/production lines or similar manufacturing equipment.
• Ability to follow SOPs and maintain product quality.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Set up and change over the screening line according to SOPs.
• Verify line components match shop paperwork from planning/engineering.
• Complete required line audits during each run and maintain records.
• Lead and coach helper, and communicate clearly to the team.
• Complete Advaris transactions at start, during, and end of each run.
• Lead DHP/pass down meetings with rotating shifts.
• Operate hand tools including welding and crimping as needed.
• Report maintenance and quality issues to supervisor promptly.
• Sit/stand/move for up to 12 hours per day.
• Collaborate with internal resources on process improvements to drive continuous improvement.
• Report all safety and quality incidents to support zero-incident culture.
• Maintain general housekeeping and organization on the line.

Job Description

Screening Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient and successful operation of our screening line on a variety of high and medium voltage cable designs. Operator will oversee the process of the line to ensure proper SOP is being followed and no defective product makes it to the next operation.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for the proper setup, changeover, and overall operation of the stranding line.
• Responsible for verifying line components match shop paperwork outlined by planning and engineering department.
• Responsible for completing necessary cage/ line audits during each run.
• Leads, coaches and communicates information to helper.
• Completing required paperwork and Advaris transactions at the start, during and end of each run.
• Ability to lead DHP/pass down meeting with rotating shift.
• Ability to use and manipulate hand tools, including welding and crimping functions.
• Responsible for reporting all maintenance and quality issues to supervisor.
• Ability to sit/stand/move for up to 12 hours a day.
• Partner with internal resources on process improvements to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
• Report all incidents of Safety and Quality violations in support of a Culture of Zero.
• Responsible for maintaining general housekeeping.
