Job summary

Lassonde Pappas & Co., Inc. seeks a Relief Operator to support production at the Seabrook, NJ facility.

You will proficiently operate line equipment at a grade 8 level and perform quality checks in a fast-paced environment with strict attention to detail. The role includes starting and stopping machinery, using safety devices properly, and assisting with size changeovers while maintaining documentation and communicating with teammates.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and ability to fill required documentation.
• Completed machine operator training on all equipment.
• Capable of basic arithmetic for measurements and QA checks.
• Forklift certification required and maintained.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; detail oriented and able to multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Operate filler, labeler, case packer, and line driver as needed.
• Complete quality checks and document results.
• Understand safety devices and start/stop machinery correctly.
• Coordinate with operators to ensure correct packaging materials.
• Maintain clean work area and assist in size changeovers as needed.
• Safely operate electric pallet jack and support maintenance tasks.

Job description

Position Summary

The Relief Operator reports to the Production Supervisor and is based out of our Seabrook, New Jersey location. This individual must be able to proficiently operate all line equipment at a grade 8 level. The employee must be able to work in a fast-paced environment while paying close attention to detail through many changes.

The starting hourly rate for this position is $26.90/hr.

2nd shift is eligible for a $0.35/hr shift differential.

3rd shift is eligible for a $0.45/hr shift differential.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES (essential Functions Of The Job)

Responsibilities Include

• Coverage to run filler, labeler, case packer, and line driver in the absence of standard operators.
• Complete quality checks
• Knows the purpose and proper operation of all safety switches, interlocks, and safety devices
• Can properly start and stop the machinery
• Understands and can properly operate all machine controls: mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic
• Proficient at performing product cuts
• Enters changes into the Marsh coder and Videojet
• Keeps the work area clean and free of debris and keeps the waste corrugated and stacked neatly in the waste cart
• Clears jams and resets the machinery
• Safely operates the electric pallet jack and is forklift-certified
• Assists maintenance in size changeovers as necessary
• Fills out all needed documentation and performs first-piece inspections
• Coordinates with the operators so the correct boxes are available to the case packer
• Proficient in operating all line equipment
• Maintains awareness of all safety procedures
• Performs other related duties as required and assigned

Education And Experience

Minimum Required Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent
• Can properly fill out all required documentation
• Has successfully completed machine operator training on all pieces of equipment
• Capable of adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing
• Successfully complete and maintain the Lassonde Pappas Forklift
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Detailed oriented and can multi-task
• Ability to run whalon, filler, labeler, case packer and line driver.
• Ability to complete all quality checks.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the food/beverage industry
• Previous experience in Manufacturing or production environment
• Ability to direct, coach and train others.
• Consultative, influential, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

This position requires sufficient physical ability to work in a production setting.

FREQUENT: Ability to talk and hear; ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, stoop, bend and/or crouch; push/pull; lift up to 50 pounds; use of hands and fingers to operate machinery/equipment and all manual and electronic equipment in area of responsibility. Exposure to wet and humid conditions and fluctuations in ambient temperature (seasonal).

OCCASIONAL: Squatting, kneeling, ability to reach above and at shoulder height. Ability to wear a dust mask, and perform Confined Entry using LOTO program. Exposure to toxic and corrosive chemicals.

VISION: Ability to use close and distance vision, as well as color and peripheral vision with or without correction. Must be able to visually detect obstacles and potential dangers in a fast-paced production environment involving high speed equipment and powered industrial lift equipment.

HEARING: Ability to hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Exposure to noise levels from pumps, machinery, forklift traffic, bottle lines and exhaust fans.
