Job summary

HARIBO of America, Inc. is seeking a Kitchen Operator in Wisconsin to safely operate and maintain our production equipment, ensuring high quality and compliance with food safety standards.

You will monitor line flow, adjust equipment, train others, and collaborate with maintenance and QA to resolve downtime and quality issues while upholding GMPs and PPE requirements.

Qualifications

  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Requires a minimum of three (3) years of progressive work experience, with machine operation in the food/beverage/pharma industry preferred.
  • Requires understanding of machine operations and all other production functions.
  • Requires computer skills with basic knowledge of Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. SAP a plus.
  • Requires skills with using ERP and QMS software.
  • Requires knowledge of food safety and quality standards and regulations (SQF, safety practices).
  • Must be flexible with work scheduling including overtime.
  • Requires basic mathematical skills and ability to adjust equipment settings.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently.
  • Requires teamwork and coaching abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects and maintains assigned equipment and performs preventive maintenance.
  • Operates, cleans and maintains equipment following high quality standards.
  • Keeps production schedule in mind and helps plan workflow per shift.
  • Monitors line flow and steps in to support or relieve breaks as needed.
  • Adjusts equipment as needed and understands how to change settings.
  • Resolves changes in product flow and equipment malfunctions, escalating as required.
  • Verifies raw materials and premixes meet specifications and adjusts as needed.
  • Reports food safety or quality issues to management immediately.
  • Prepares equipment for next run and documents information accurately.
  • Analyzes process data to improve quality and throughput.
  • Participates in continuous improvement efforts and best practices.
  • Follows Good Manufacturing Practices and uses required PPE.
  • Trains and supports other line positions as needed.
  • Communicates information to the next shift and maintains a positive work environment.

Job description

Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, the Kitchen Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating equipment in their assigned area, assuring compliance to all quality, environmental and cost standards. The Kitchen Operator will partner with support functions to identify and resolve unplanned downtime events, quality, safety, cost, and other losses attributed to the area, using problem solving techniques and a continuous improvement mindset.

Responsibilities:
  • Conducts inspection of and routine preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.
  • Responsible for safely, efficiently and with a focus on our high-quality standards operating, maintaining, and cleaning the assigned equipment.
  • Maintains an understanding of the production schedule for each shift and how it influences the work to be planned for and completed.
  • Observes the flow of the line and identifies where help is needed, stepping into any position to provide support or relieve for breaks.
  • Understands the kitchen equipment being used and how to adjust when needed.
  • Resolve any changes in product flow, equipment malfunctions, shortages, or deviations from specifications, escalating issues to the Production Supervisor, maintenance, or other operators as needed.
  • Inspect raw materials and premixes to verify conformance to specifications and performs necessary adjustments to ensure compliance.
  • Report any food safety and food quality related issues to management immediately.
  • Ensure the proper raw materials and premixes are used for each product being produced.
  • Prepare equipment for next run to include size changes as needed.
  • Ensure all paperwork is filled out in a clear, legible, and accurate format, and completed with required information. Ensure all required information is documented in accordance with the guiding procedures.
  • Analyze process data and equipment performance data to improve quality, throughput, and troubleshoot.
  • Utilizing continuous improvement mindset, assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes.
  • Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices, including required work safe practices. This would include wearing of all required PPE in designated areas, confined space safety, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe work area, etc.
  • Responsible for food safety, pre-requisite programs and food quality related to designated area.
  • Trains for and is prepared to support any position on the line, in the assigned area, as needed. Follows the assigned trainings and to complete them on time.
  • Communicates pertinent information to next shift.
  • Ability to handle stress and to interact with others to establish and maintain a positive and productive work environment and minimize personal conflicts.
  • Responsible for training and coaching others in the assigned areas.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

  • Requires basic mathematical skills to be able to add, subtract, multiply, divide, work with percentages, and have basic knowledge of algebra as well as make fine adjustments in equipment settings.
  • Ability to lift to 50lbs frequently.
  • Requires teamwork ability; works well with others and communicates effectively with all associates.
  • Requires the ability to train and coach others for success.
