Job Summary

The Loader Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. The Loader Operator must also clean, maintain and secure all equipment as directed by policies, procedures, and operator manuals.

Job Responsibilities

• Operate front-end loader to lift and transport bulk materials to and from storage areas, feed conveyors, hoppers and load trucks or railcars.
• Start engine, shift gears, press pedals, and steer loader.
• Lower and tilt bucket to scoop bulk materials.
• Raise and tilt bucket when filled, and drive to work site to dump material.
• Verify amount of aggregate in storage bins and fill hoppers to ensure adequate quantity and quality of raw materials.
• Perform routine maintenance on loaders such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning.
• Participate in ensuring raw materials meet established quality and quantity standards.
• Meet established performance indicators.
• Work toward improvement of the assigned plant and surrounding area.
• Follow established procedures to ensure plant compliance with state, federal, and local regulations and requirements.
• Participate in ongoing minor maintenance and visual evaluations of plant and equipment.
• Consult with plant superintendent, batch person, and other personnel to resolve problems, provide immediate feedback, and recommend solutions to improve performance.
• Haul cement and/or additives from storage area in bulk or bags when necessary.
• Adhere to all CEMEX, OSHA, and MSHA rules and regulations at all times and wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds.
• Meet or exceed company safety standards.
• Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Be able to read, write, and speak English.
• Bilingual is a plus.

Working Conditions

• Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and working outdoors.
• Must wear protective equipment while at the location.

Physical Requirements

• Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree.
• Exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently.
• Job involves sitting most of the time, but also involves walking or standing for brief periods of time.
• Must regularly talk and hear to communicate with employees/visitors and function safely around heavy rolling equipment.
• Must be able to perform all job functions, which include, but may not be limited to, pushing, turning, and/or pulling of controls.
