Job Title

Operator Loader

Job Summary

The Loader Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. The Loader Operator must also clean, maintain and secure all equipment as directed by policies, procedures, and operator manuals.

Job Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the operation of front-end loader to lift and transport bulk materials to and from storage areas, to feed conveyors, hoppers and to load trucks or railcars.
  • Starts engine, shifts gears, presses pedals, and turns steering wheel to operate loader.
  • Moves levers to lower and tilt bucket and drives front-end loader to force bucket into bulk materials.
  • Moves levers to raise and tilt bucket when filled, drives vehicle to work site, and moves levers to dump material.
  • Verifies amount of aggregate in storage bins and fills hoppers to ensure adequate quantity and quality of raw materials is maintained.
  • Performs routine maintenance on loaders, such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning.
  • Participates in making sure the quality and quantity of raw materials meets established standards.
  • Ensures assigned established performance indicators are met.
  • Works toward improvement of the assigned plant and surrounding area.
  • Follows established procedures to ensure that the plant for which he/she is working is in compliance with state, federal, and local regulations and requirements.
  • Participates in ongoing minor maintenance and visual evaluations of plant and equipment.
  • Confers with plant superintendent, batch person, and other personnel to resolve problems, provide immediate feedback, and may recommend solutions to improve performance.
  • May haul cement and/or additives from storage area in bulk or bags.
  • Adheres to all CEMEX, OSHA and MSHA rules and regulations at all times and wears proper safety equipment while on plant grounds.
  • Meets or exceeds company safety standards.
  • Performs other job responsibilities as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Be able to read, write, and speak English.
Working Conditions
  • Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and working outdoors.
  • Must wear protective equipment while at the location.
Physical Requirements
  • Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree.
  • Exerts up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently.
  • Job involves sitting most of the time, but also involves walking or standing for brief periods of time.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors as well as function safely around heavy rolling equipment.
  • Must be able to perform all job functions which include, but may not be limited to, pushing, turning, and/or pulling of controls.
