Job summary

EDCO Products, Inc. in Hopkins, MN seeks an Operator Lead for the manufacturing floor. This full-time, first-shift role (7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday–Friday) focuses on coordinating daily production activities, mentoring operators, and maintaining safety and quality standards.

You will monitor schedules, support improvements, and ensure timely completion of products while fostering a positive, efficient work environment. This is a hands-on leadership position within a growing team.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical training or coursework preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Prior leadership or team lead experience is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment and safety practices.
  • Ability to lead by example with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day production activities and coordinate the production team on the assigned shift or area.
  • Monitor production schedules, workflows, and resources to ensure timely completion of products.
  • Lead and mentor team members; provide training and guidance on processes and expectations.
  • Monitor product quality and assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of production, downtime, scrap, and other metrics; report to leadership.
  • Communicate shift hand-off details and collaborate with leads/supervisors to ensure smooth operations.
  • Assist with setup, changeovers, and operation of machinery as needed.
  • Address issues on the floor and escalate as necessary.
  • Uphold safety procedures and support continuous improvement initiatives (5S, Lean, Kaizen).
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Operator Lead plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and successful operation of EDCO Products' manufacturing team. This is a full-time, non-exempt position based in Hopkins, MN, reporting to the Production Supervisor. The position is scheduled for 1st Shift, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. In this hands-on leadership role, you will coordinate daily production activities, monitor workflow, and support a team of production associates to achieve quality, safety, and production objectives while fostering a positive and productive work environment.

  • Ensure compliance and continuous improvement of all safety procedures and policies; promote a culture of safety.
  • Participate in and support continuous improvement initiatives (5S, Lean, Kaizen) to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Lead and coordinate the day-to-day activities of production team members on assigned shift or production area.
  • Monitor production schedules, workflows, and resources to ensure timely completion of products.
  • Act as the first point of contact for resolving issues on the floor, escalating concerns to leadership as needed.
  • Ability to perform and support setup, changeovers, and operation of machinery and equipment as needed.
  • Provide training, coaching, and guidance to team members to ensure understanding of processes and expectations.
  • Monitor product quality and assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of production, downtime, scrap, and other key metrics.
  • Communicate shift hand-off details and collaborate with other leads/supervisors to ensure smooth operations.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • Monitor production hour-by-hour charts and address issues in a timely manner
  • Daily hour-by-hour data entry on Safety, Quality and Delivery board.
