Rome Police is seeking an entry-level Water Reclamation Facilities Operator to learn and perform wastewater processing at a municipal treatment plant. Training will be provided to develop the skills needed to operate pumps, valves, and related equipment.

Candidate must have a high school diploma or GED and be willing to obtain required licenses within 12 months and complete NIMS trainings. Weekend and holiday shifts may be required as part of the role.

• Must obtain National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) 100 and 700 within three (3) months of employment.

This position is responsible for accepting and understanding the training, and development of the skills necessary for the processing of wastewater through a sewage treatment plant. This is an entry level position for Water Reclamation Facilities Operator (WRF).

Training provided.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Knowledge of the wastewater treatment process.


• Knowledge of the physical constituents of the WRF (pumps, valves, etc.) and the use and maintenance of these components.


• Knowledge of mathematics associated with wastewater.


• Knowledge of state, local, and WRF guidelines and procedures relating to wastewater treatment and disposal.


• Knowledge of applicable safety procedures.


• Skill in reading various gauges (e.g., D. O., sludge, and Tank Levels, etc.).


• Skill in chemical handling and knowledge of chemical safety.


• Skill in the use of basic tools (e.g. screwdrivers, etc.).


• Skill in basic computer use and its applicable software.


• Ability to communicate and interact with coworkers, supervisor, vendors, and the general public sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
