The Gund Company is seeking a full time CNC Machine Setup Operator III for our 1st Shift.

Starting hourly wage: $25-$30

Plant location: 809 Phillip Drive, Waukesha, WI 53186

Job Summary

  • Setups involve familiarity with and understanding of program formats involving combinations of operations such as profile and contour milling, boring, recessing, turning, drilling, threading, etc., to the capacity of the machine and control factor. Operates numerically controlled machine tools to perform a complex series of progressive machining operations on a diversified line of work to close and exacting tolerances and finish specifications requiring a high degree of skill. May check parts for conformance to specifications and run and set up more than one unit simultaneously.

Essential Job Functions

  • Operate multiple types of fabrication equipment.
  • Set-up and operate CNC machining centers in multiple cells that include but are not limited to mills, lathes, presses, routers, etc.
  • Perform advanced setup operations.
  • Perform work independently with minimal defects.

Requirements

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Requires a broad knowledge of machining techniques and familiarity with computer numerically controlled machine tool operating procedures.
  • Open to change due to emergency orders or fabrication of parts.
  • Intermediate math skills and/or aptitudes.
  • Ability to use basic measuring instruments.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed.

Education and Experience

  • Typically requires 5+ years of combined formal training and experience, or equivalent.
  • A High School Diploma or GED with prior hands-on, vocational or job-related course work/training, or any similar combination of education and experience is required. Prior experience in a manufacturing industry preferred.

Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee may be required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: The work environment is typical of most shop environments; not climate controlled and subject to outdoor weather conditions. Team members are exposed to sounds and noise levels that are distracting.

  • Frequent exposure to fumes/dust particles; may require use of respirators or other types of PPE.
  • May come in contact with toxic or caustic chemicals.
