Job summary

Bell County is seeking a dedicated worker to assist with roadway and right-of-way maintenance and to operate 6- and 12-yard dump trucks. You will inspect equipment, assist with traffic control setups, and use a roadway asset management system under supervision.

The role requires a high school diploma, 1 year of related experience, and a valid state driver’s license. First Aid/CPR and a Texas Class A CDL with Tanker endorsements are required within 60 days of employment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the performance of roadway and right-of-way maintenance.
  • Operates 6- and 12-yard dump trucks.
  • Inspects and performs routine maintenance on equipment.
  • Assists with the set up and maintenance of traffic control signs and barricades per TMUTCD.
  • Performs basic computer tasks including email and timekeeping.
  • Enter data into the roadway asset management system under supervision.
  • Provides assistance during emergency events (flooding, ice storm, etc.).
  • Transports equipment, supplies and/or materials in light to medium trucks.
  • Complies with safety standards.
  • Communicates effectively with the public and other employees.
  • Attends meetings and trainings as required.

Job description

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assists with the performance of roadway and right-of-way maintenance
  • Operates 6- and 12-yard dump trucks
  • Inspects and performs routine maintenance on equipment
  • Assists with the set up and maintenance of traffic control signs and barricades in compliance with the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (TMUTCD)
  • Performs basic computer skill(s) including, but not limited to, checking email and electronic timekeeping
  • Under close supervision, enters data into the roadway asset management system
  • Provides assistance during emergency events (i.e., flooding, ice storm, etc.)
  • Transports equipment, supplies and/or materials in light to medium trucks
  • Complies with departmental and county safety standards
  • Communicates effectively with the public and other employees
  • Attends all meetings and trainings, as required
Education and Experience Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) year of related work experience
  • Working knowledge of specific job-related technology
  • Must have a valid state driver's license
  • Must be able to read, write and speak the English Language
Special Certifications and Licenses
  • Required within sixty (60) days of employment: Texas Class “A” CDL with Tanker Endorsements
  • First Aid and CPR

  • Must furnish a working cell phone capable of receiving and sending phone calls and text messages
Physical Demands

Position involves stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, walking, standing, climbing, driving and lifting up to 100 pounds.
