Job summary

The Gund Company is seeking a CNC Composites Operator I to support the manufacture of thermoset composite materials. The role involves operating presses and forming equipment, performing manual tasks, and using hand tools as required.

You will work in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment, with PPE required and exposure to noise, fumes, and chemicals. Training and an ESOP are among the benefits offered.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent training.
• Hand-on, vocational, or job-related coursework or experience are acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Manufacture molded glass polyester sheets.
• Select and install machine components according to specifications.
• Trim/file and de-flash molded sheet edges and perform in-process measurements and material inspections.
• Set up tooling, load programs and set machine parameters for optimal performance.
• Clean dies and molds using appropriate tools and equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

As a CNC Composites Operator I, you will play a key role in the steps related to the manufacture of thermoset composite materials by operating manufacturing equipment that includes presses, forming, extrusion, pultrusion and/or shape machines. Duties also involve manual work and duties that require the use of various hand tools and secondary/accessory equipment.

Compensation and Shift

• Shift: 2nd
• Wage: $20.60 - $24.72
• Shift Premium: 15%
• Department: Composites

Key Responsibilities

• Manufacture molded glass polyester sheets.
• Select and install machine components, such as dies, spacers, shims and/or stops according to specifications.
• Trim/file and de-flash molded sheet edges and perform in process measuring and material inspections.
• Set up tooling, load programs and set machine parameters to ensure optimal equipment performance.
• Clean dies and molds, using scrapers, brushes, scotch pads or air hoses.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED with prior hands on, vocational or job-related coursework or training, or any similar combination of education and experience.

Preferred

Prior experience in a manufacturing industry with mixing, batching or compounding equipment.

Work Environment

This role is performed in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, fumes, and chemicals. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required. The position may involve repetitive tasks and manual labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods of time.
