Job summary

Miller Pipeline is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator in Wisconsin to support underground construction projects. The role requires operating heavy equipment, CDL Class A, and willingness to travel within the region. You will work on tasks including attachment setup, hydraulic connections, and routine maintenance.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent and pass operator qualifications testing. A tanker endorsement is preferred to enhance project flexibility.

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy equipment in field settings.
• High school diploma or equivalent; education considered in lieu of experience.
• Must pass local operator qualifications testing.

Responsibilities

• Fasten attachments to tractor and set up equipment.
• Connect hydraulic hoses and power take-off to raise/lower attachments.
• Move levers to control tool bars and disks.
• Operate tractor to clear right-of-way and adjust depth of cut.
• Perform routine maintenance and record-keeping.
• Assess area to ensure utilities are located prior to work.

Main Responsibilities

• Fasten attachments to tractor with clevis or wedge pin hitches.
• Connect hydraulic hoses, belts, mechanical linkage, or power takeoff shaft to tractor to provide power to raise, lower, or tilt attachments.
• Move levers to control tool bars, carriers, and disks.
• Move levers and depress pedals to maneuver tractor and raise, lower, and tilt attachment to clear right-of-way.
• Feel lever and listen for stalling action of engine to estimate depth of cut.
• Grease, oil, and perform minor repairs on equipment.
• Maintain all appropriate maintenance records.
• Assess the area to determine if the utilities were properly located prior to performing the underground work.
• Review the terrain to determine the best method to perform the job.

Required Qualifications

• Prior heavy equipment operating experience.
• Class A CDL
• Ability to travel around the area.
• High school diploma or equivalent. Experience in lieu of education will be considered.
• Must pass computer-based testing, specific to the local Customer's operator qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Class A CDL with tanker endorsements.
