Job summary

Miller Pipeline in Kansas City, MO is seeking Equipment Operators to join our team. You will perform digging, back-filling, trenching, and installation activities for underground utility projects, and ensure safety and quality while handling heavy equipment.

Successful candidates have 3+ years of heavy equipment operation or completion of an operator’s apprentice program, are able to communicate effectively, and can pass computer-based testing for local operator qualifications.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of equivalent experience operating heavy equipment.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must pass computer-based testing, specific to the local Customer’s operator qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Digging, filling, back-filling, grading or other excavation work including trenches, pits or tunnels
• Distinguishes between properties, types and moisture content of soils
• Installation of underground cable and conduit as well as overhead cable
• Fasten attachments to tractor with clevis or wedge pin hitches.
• Connect hydraulic hoses, belts, mechanical linkage, or power takeoff shaft to tractor to provide power to raise, lower, or tilt attachments.
• Move levers and depress pedals to maneuver tractor and raise, lower, and tilt attachment to clear right-of-way.
• Assess the area to determine if the utilities were properly located prior to performing the underground work.
• Review the terrain to determine the best method to perform the job.
• Operate vehicles for hauling.
