Job summary

The Greenbrier Companies is seeking an Operator 1 to operate a variety of manufacturing machinery and fabricate railcar component parts to meet tight tolerances. The role requires reading blueprints, basic computer use, and the ability to work in a production setting.

Candidates should have 6+ months of experience with manufacturing equipment, the ability to work independently or in a team, and a High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Assembles and grinds products using grinders, tables or conveyors.

  • Adjusts parts to meet quality requirements.
  • Conducts regular inspections of parts produced through measurements.
  • Reads drawings and follows production standards.
  • Uses tape measures and other common measuring tools.

Summary

The Operator 1 is responsible for operating a variety of machinery such as saws, presses, and drills to fabricate railcar component parts to meet close and complex tolerances.

Duties And Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform the following essential duties satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices.

  • Assembles and grinds products such as carbon and stainless steel, or aluminum, using grinders, tables or conveyor systems.
  • Uses hand tools such as wrenches, electric tools, and ratchets.
  • Monitors output and proper operation of mechanical equipment.
  • Adjusts parts to ensure quality requirements are met.
  • Conducts regular inspections of parts produced through measurements.
  • Reads drawings and follows production standards.
  • Uses common measuring equipment such as tape measures.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Additional PPE may be required as determined by the environment.
