Job summary

IPG in Danville, VA is hiring a Production Assistant to support the Operations team on the production line. The role involves starting machines, feeding lines, and monitoring processes to ensure quality products.

You will work under the Manufacturing Supervisor, perform basic maintenance and measurements, and maintain safety and lean manufacturing practices. The position is hourly non-exempt with opportunities for growth and hands-on training.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Intermediate math and English written communication necessary.
• Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours.
• Ability to lift up to 60 lbs regularly.

Responsibilities

• Operate production line safely and start-up equipment.
• Assist in feeding, monitoring, and changeovers on the line.
• Maintain blending system and recipes as needed.
• Inspect pieces to verify conformance to customer standards.
• Record quality and production metrics in written form and within deadlines.
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks and minor repairs as required.

Position Description

Title: Production Assistant

Department: Operations

Immediate Supervisor: Manufacturing Supervisor

Status: Hourly Non-Exempt

Position Purpose: Assists in operation production line

Principle Accountabilities

• Assists with the safe, controlled start-up and operation of the production line and process equipment including starting the machine, engaging the feed, observing the operation, and managing changeover process.
• Assists in maintaining blending system including mix recipes.
• Assists in inspecting and measuring completed pieces to verify conformity to customer production standards.
• Assists in monitoring and adjusting controls to ensure product complies with production standards.
• Assists in maintaining equipment through completion of assigned preventative maintenance tasks and minor repair techniques as required.
• Assists in recording quality and production metrics via written communication methods and within time deadlines as necessary.
• Performs all work in a safety first mentality and with utilization of IPS lean manufacturing skills.
• Related tasks as requested by supervisor

Essential Skills And Experience

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Intermediate math skills and English written communication skills necessary.
• Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours at a time required
• Ability to regularly lift large lightweight items above head required
• Ability to lift and maneuver up to 60 lbs. on a consistent basis
