Job description

Protects product and consumer by operating packaging machines; packaging product in appropriate packages and ensuring correct date is stamped on the package.

1. Tends machine that performs packaging functions by starting machine; observing operation to detect malfunction; making minor repairs and/or adjustments; setting guides; cleaning/oiling machine; calling maintenance when necessary; filling machine with appropriate labels for each product. Can follow wrap sheet specs to determine the correct blade size, slice count, bag number, & date that should be used for that particular product number.
2. Ensures quality packaging for cereal by setting the appropriate weights for hopper to measure; filling boxes according to those weights; setting up ink jet printer; and stacking boxes.
3. Ensures quality packaging of bread by loading the loaves; removing the loaves; ensuring bags are dated correctly; stacking packaged bread for order fulfillment.
4. Maintains a safe and clean work environment by cleaning up as needed and being aware of necessary sanitation and safety procedures. Follows lot tracking processes when replenishing inventory daily.
5. Assures end result is a quality product by understanding each of the products and noting products that are not up to quality standards.
6. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
7. Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

• High School Diploma/GED Equivalent required
• Experience in Food Industry desired
• Prior experience working in a high-speed manufacturing environment

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Knowledge of sanitation and safety procedures
• Knowledge of Natural Ovens products
• Knowledge of machine operation and maintenance
• Ability to read and write
• Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions

• Ability to perform repetitive tasks
