Palmer Candy Company is seeking a 1st shift Operator for our Sioux City facility. The role involves operating a production line and supervising the packaging of confectionery products on the 1st shift (Mon-Thu 5:00 AM–4:30 PM; Fri varies).

You will ensure quality, safety, and efficiency, perform routine checks, and maintain inventory and records. Strong English skills, basic math, and prior manufacturing machine experience are required.

Qualifications

• Must read and understand English manuals and documents.
• Prior experience operating machines in a manufacturing setting.
• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, and simple multiplication/division).

Responsabilités

• Operate production line and oversee packaging of confectionery products.
• Ensure high-quality products are produced safely, efficiently, and per standards.
• Perform routine quality checks on weight, percentages, and equipment for product accuracy.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized work area with proper changeover procedures.
• Prepare supplies, products, and equipment for production and verify health and safety requirements.
• Conduct basic equipment cleaning, minor maintenance, and inspections of detectors and other production equipment.
• Maintain accurate inventory counts, lot numbers, and production records.
• Assist with line operations and train Team Members as needed.
• Use REDZONE production software and support established OEE standards.
• Communicate effectively with Team Members across departments and levels.
• Maintain reliable attendance and be willing to work overtime as needed.

Palmer Candy is looking for a 1st shiftOperator at our Bluff St Facility.

1st shift will work Monday-Thursday. Monday-Thursday hours are 5:00 AM - 4:30 PM with Friday hours varying from 6 to10-hour shifts. Saturday hours may be scheduled due to business needs.

Team Members will be notified by plant management if schedules were to change outside of the times listed above.

Position Summary

This role operates a production line and oversees the production and packaging of confectionary products.

• Ensure Team Members produce and package high-quality products safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards and specifications.
• Package products and perform routine quality, weight, percentage, and equipment checks to ensure product accuracy and safety.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized work environment, including proper allergen and product changeover procedures.
• Prepare supplies, products, and equipment for production while ensuring equipment meets health and safety requirements.
• Perform basic equipment cleaning, minor maintenance, and routine inspections of metal detectors and other production equipment.
• Maintain accurate inventory counts, lot numbers, date codes, and production records.
• Assist with production line operations and train Team Members as needed.
• Utilize REDZONE production software and support established OEE standards.
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with Team Members across all departments and levels.
• Maintain professional conduct, regular and reliable attendance, and work overtime as needed to support production demands.
• Regular and reliable attendance is required

Preferred

• SAP or equivalent experience
• High school diploma or equivalent

Required

• Ability to verbally communicate proficiently in English to effectively engage with internal teams. Applicant must be proficient in reading and understanding English-language manuals, equipment, instructions, and other documents relevant to the role.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and move 20-30 pounds on an occasional basis.
• Comfortable standing and working for extended periods in a production environment.
• Frequent hand and repetitive motion required to handle, inspect, and package products.
• Works efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
• Flexibility to cross-train and operate on multiple production lines as needed.
