Job summary

Operator role on site at NASA JSC with Amentum. You will perform readings on boilers, chillers, and pumps, visually inspect pumps and condensate lines, and start/stop equipment as directed.

You will monitor boilers and assist with valve operations under the Chief Operator's guidance. The position requires US citizenship, a high school diploma or GED (or equivalent experience), and the ability to communicate effectively in English.

• Monitors steam boilers.
• Opens and closes valves as instructed by Chief Operator and follows utility procedures.
• Performs water analysis of boiler and cooling tower waters.

Position Title: Operator

Purpose of the position

Will perform assigned duties as a PAE, an Amentum Company employee onsite at the Glenn Research Center.

Principal Responsibilities of the Position

• Takes Electronic readings on equipment, Boilers, Chillers, Air Compressors.
• Visually inspects Building pumps: Condensate, Chill Water, and Boiler Feed.
• Starts and stops equipment as instructed. (Chillers and Pumps)
• Monitors Steam Boilers.
• Open and Closes valves as instructed by Chief Operator and works Utility Procedures.
• Does Water analysis of Boiler and Cooling Tower waters.

Education and Experience Requirements

• Must have Operations experience.
• Must have High School Diploma, or GED, or five (5) years relevant experience.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen in order to obtain required NASA badge.
• Must be able to provide a certified Birth Certificate (with state seal), Passport, or INS Citizenship documents on date of hire (candidate will be sent home if this paperwork is not provided upon arrival on date of hire).
• Must have the ability to communicate the English language, both verbally and written, in an effective manner.
• Must have, and maintain, a valid Texas driver’s license.

Special Knowledge and Skills Required

• This position is located onsite at NASA JSC and requires US Citizenship.
• Be able to read and understand instructions both verbal and written.
• Be able to understand the various piping systems located in building.
• Have knowledge of Boilers and be able to operate same.
• Have working knowledge of Pumps and motors.
• Have a working knowledge of refrigeration systems, (Chillers) and be able to operate same.
• Have working knowledge of refrigeration recovery system and be able to operate.
• Understand Boiler Chemistry readings and capable of adjusting chemical systems.

Physical Requirements

• Must have the ability to communicate the English language both verbally and written in an effective manner.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
• Dexterity to operate office and field equipment as required by the position.
• In good physical shape/condition for climbing in and out of tight restricted working areas, as applicable.

Preferences

• Prior knowledge of NASA site, experienced with working on government installations preferred.

Compensation Details:

$46.72
