Job summary

Nexans USA Inc. is seeking an operator to proficiently run equipment in a high voltage cable production environment, ensuring safe operation and quality products. You will use MMI and shop floor systems, read SWIs/SOPs, and complete daily reports while maintaining documentation and data accuracy.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job description

Proficiently operate one or more pieces of equipment in a safe manner to manufacture high-quality products within a high voltage cable production environment.

Areas of Responsibility

  • Safely operate and maintain cleanliness of equipment used in cable manufacturing while meeting quality standards.
  • Interact effectively with Man Machine Interface (MMI), including shop floor systems and operator displays.
  • Read, understand, and follow Standard Work Instructions (SWIs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure proper equipment operation and product quality.
  • Complete and maintain all required operational paperwork and documentation.
  • Enter and manage production data within MMI or touch screen systems, including daily reports, tally sheets, and scrap tracking.
  • Use and maintain hand tools required for equipment setup, teardown, and operation.
  • Perform quality checks and inspections to verify product specifications using tools such as micrometers, OTDR, gauge block microscope, and related equipment.

Required Competencies and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required; technical education preferred
  • Manufacturing experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to read, write, and understand plant documentation and procedures
  • Ability to follow instructions from supervisors and peers
  • Basic math skills to interpret process sheets, SOPs, and track material usage and scrap
  • Understanding and compliance with all company policies and procedures
  • Ability to pass pre-employment physical and drug screening
  • Willingness to travel for short-term training at other North American locations

Lifting and Carrying Requirements

  • Simple grasping: up to 10 pounds continuously
  • Pushing/pulling: up to full 36\" reels; up to 50 lbs. force
  • Carrying distance: up to 10 feet
  • Pushing/pulling distance: up to 50-100 feet
  • Lifting height: 2 to 4 feet
  • Fine manipulation tasks include inspection, wire handling, microscope use, keyboard entry, and MMI/touch screen operation
