Job summary

SACO AEI Polymers is seeking a dedicated 12-hour shift operator to run mixers, extruders and related equipment, ensuring safe and high-quality plastic compounds. This role covers setup, changeovers, in-process checks, material handling and coordination with Shipping/Receiving while maintaining a clean 5S environment.

Candidates should have strong teamwork, reliability, basic math and computer skills, forklift experience, and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous manufacturing experience desired.
  • Must be able to lift and move objects; physically capable of 12-hour shifts.
  • Must be able to work 12-hour shifts (2/2/3 schedule) and operate safely in a manufacturing environment.
  • Good written and verbal communication, reliability and teamwork are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, tear down, adjust and operate mixers, extruders, blenders, feeders and related equipment used to produce company products.
  • Cross-check material to production orders.
  • Coordinate with and assist Shipping and Receiving staff as needed.
  • Prepare WIP blends for subsequent production runs.
  • Monitor production parameters and complete production and quality reports.
  • Perform changeovers and drain-outs.
  • Perform in-process quality control tasks.
  • Clean equipment before shift change using hand tools, grinders and basic electrical tools.
  • Use forklift to move materials.
  • Identify and interact with Maintenance on equipment malfunctions.
  • Communicate issues to Team Leader and in daily meetings.
  • Perform 5S duties to maintain a safe, orderly and clean work area.
  • Requisition consumables as needed.
  • Attend end-of-shift huddle (communication meeting).

POSITION SUMMARY: Operates the mixer, extruder and other related equipment to safely produce high-quality plastic compound pellets and/or powder blends in a timely fashion. Previous experience in compounding plastics desired.Must be able to work a 12-hour schedule. 7:00 am – 7:00 pm or 7:00 pm - 7:00 am on a 2/2/3 schedulePHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Must be able to lift and move objects up to 75 pounds. Must be able to walk, stand, hear, grasp, squeeze, twist, kneel, crawl, climb & bend in a manufacturing setting for an entire shift. Must be able to wear PAPR units. Must be able to work in confined spaces. Must be able to lift overhead. Ability to withstand heat. Ability to withstand dust and fumes.
