Position Summary
5th Axis is seeking CNC Operators to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for safely operating CNC equipment while producing parts that meet established quality and dimensional requirements.
We are looking for candidates with varying levels of CNC operating experience, from individuals with foundational machine-operation experience or relevant technical training to experienced operators comfortable working independently with CNC equipment, inspection tools, tooling, offsets, and G & M codes.
The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, quality-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. CNC Operator I CNC Operator II CNC Operator III
What You'll Do
- Safely operate CNC machines in accordance with established procedures and production requirements.
- Load and unload parts and materials.
- Monitor machine operation and ensure parts remain within allowable tolerances.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, setup sheets, and production documentation as applicable.
- Use inspection and measurement equipment such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, pins, and indicators.
- Perform part inspections and verify completed work against drawing requirements.
- Complete travelers, including part counts and revision checks.
- Log routers and production activity within the Epicor system.
- Monitor coolant levels and safely power machines on and off.
- Perform basic tool changes and replace tools or drills as needed.
- Make basic offset adjustments as appropriate based on experience and demonstrated proficiency.
- Apply working knowledge of CNC programs and G & M codes as appropriate.
- Operate 3- and 4-axis CNC equipment as assigned based on demonstrated capability.
- Identify machine, tooling, or part-quality issues and elevate concerns when necessary.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow all company safety, quality, and manufacturing procedures.

What We’re Looking For
- Previous CNC machine operation experience or relevant technical education/training.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and manufacturing documentation.
- Ability to use precision measurement and inspection tools.
- Understanding of part tolerances and the ability to verify parts meet drawing requirements.
- Mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn.
- Familiarity with setup sheets, tooling, offsets, CNC programs, and G & M codes is preferred.
- Experience operating 3- and 4-axis CNC equipment is preferred for more experienced candidates.
- Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to tooling, machine, and quality issues.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality parts.
- Ability to stay organized and work with a sense of urgency in a production environment.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of the manufacturing team.

Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- CNC machining coursework, technical education, or related training may be considered in combination with hands-on experience.
- Previous CNC Operator or related manufacturing experience preferred.
- Candidates with progressively responsible CNC operating experience are encouraged to apply.
