Job summary

Castle Contracting is seeking Operating Engineers in the Omaha, NE area. The General Laborer supports project completion by assisting on excavation and utility work, with a strong emphasis on safety and efficiency.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience on similar construction projects and can read blueprints, operate heavy equipment, and work with minimal supervision while maintaining quality and reliability on site.

Qualifications

• Experience on commercial and civil construction projects.
• Experience in excavation/earthwork/underground utilities.
• Must be able to operate large and small excavators, loaders, and compaction equipment.
• Must be an existing member or willing to join Local #571.
• Pre-employment drug screen required.

Responsibilities

• Completes THA logs daily.
• Recognize hazards and danger zones.
• Plan and execute work with minimum supervision.
• Read and interpret blueprints.
• Identify soil types.
• Complete trenching excavations (shallow and deep).
• Rough and fine grading with dozer.
• Safely load/unload materials.
• Operate water/off-road truck.
• Complete machine load charts.
• Operate long reach excavator and motor grader.
• Operate walk-behind roller and plate compactor.
• Operate small construction equipment (front loader, mixer, forklift, skid steer).
• Inspect and perform basic maintenance on equipment.

Castle Contracting is looking for Operating Engineers in Omaha, NE area. The General Laborer supports the completion of projects by assisting on excavation and utility projects. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of previous experience on similar construction projects.

Castle is a self-performing contractor in the areas of underground utility work, site development, excavating services and mass grading.

Responsibilities

• Completes Crew Task Hazard Analysis (THA) logs daily
• Recognize hazards and danger zones
• Plan and execute work with minimum supervision
• Read and interpret blueprints
• Properly identify soil types
• Complete shallow and deep trenching excavations activities
• Rough and fine grading with dozer
• Safely Load and unload materials
• Drive water truck/off road truck
• Completes machine load charts
• Operate long reach excavator and motor grader
• Operate walk behind roller compactor and plate compactor
• Operate small construction equipment (front loader, mixer, forklift, and skid steer)
• Inspect and provide basic maintenance on equipment

Qualifications

• Must be an existing member or willing to join Local #571
• Knowledge of proper use of tools, materials, and supplies used on construction projects
• Ability to operate large & small excavators, loaders, and compaction equipment
• Previous experience in commercial and civil construction projects
• Experience in excavation/earthwork/underground utilities
• Proven commitment to safety and building relationships with a team
• Must have reliable transportation to the job site
• Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule
• Must be self-motivated and can work well with others
• Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
• 10hr OSHA, Trench Excavation Training and Sewer Layer License a plus
• Minimum age 18
• Proof of Identity and Employment Authorization
• Pre-employment drug screen required
