Job summary

EDL operates and maintains a gas-fueled power plant with multiple spark-ignition engines and ancillary equipment. The role emphasizes fault-finding, preventive maintenance and accurate reporting of equipment condition.

The candidate will engage in routine inspections, operate process instrumentation, and ensure health and safety guidelines are followed. On-call duties require staying within 45 minutes of the plant and occasional travel may be necessary.

Qualifications

  • Maintenance, mechanical or electrical experience required.
  • Current driver’s license with clean record.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays and on-call hours.
  • Basic computer skills including Word and Excel.
  • Experience with gas and/or diesel reciprocating engines.
  • Experience with Caterpillar engines is preferred.
  • Experience with LFG power generation systems.
  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance on electrical & mechanical equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain gas-fueled power plant equipment and related auxiliaries.
  • Adhere to workplace, federal, state and OSHA safety guidelines.
  • Inspect and maintain engines, generators, pumps, chillers, valves and related equipment.
  • Inspect gas processing equipment: compressors, dehydration skids, filters and control valves.
  • Document and report equipment maintenance and condition.
  • Perform fault-finding and repairs on electrical and mechanical systems.

Job description

Key Areas of Responsibility
  • Operation and Maintenance of gas fueled power plant, consisting of multiple spark ignition reciprocating engines as well as all associated auxiliary equipment.
  • Comply with all workplace, federal, state and OSHA safety guidelines and obligations.
  • Perform regular inspections and maintenance of fixed plant equipment, including engines, generators and other auxiliary equipment such as pumps, chillers, valves etc.
  • Perform regular inspections and maintenance of gas processing equipment, including compressors, aftercoolers, filtration vessels, dehydration skids, and the associated controls, gages and valves that support their operation.
  • Administrative duties including documenting and reporting equipment maintenance, operation and condition.
  • Perform fault-finding, repairs and reporting of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Operation of advanced instrumentation and process control systems.
  • Available for on-call duties remaining within 45 minutes of the power station during these hours.
  • Carry out routine housekeeping duties.
  • Actively ensure own health and safety and the health and safety of others through understanding and implementing workplace health and safety obligations.
  • Support and comply with Company policies and procedures as advised and documented in the Company's employment policies as amended from time to time and as directed by Managers/Supervisors.
  • In addition to the duties set out above, the Operator may be expected to perform other duties as assigned from time to time by the Company.
Person Specification
  • Ability to work autonomously and self-motivate in a multi-skilled work environment.
  • Ability to cooperate and effectively communicate with co-workers and contractors, sometimes during high stress situations.
  • Effective communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Analytical and trouble shooting skills in either mechanical or electrical systems.
  • Ability to read, write, hear and communicate adequately to complete job duties and responsibilities.
  • Must be able to see adequately to complete job duties and responsibilities.
  • Ability to stand, sit, bend, squat, crawl, climb, stoop, walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Ability to occasionally travel by automobile and/or airline for extended periods of time.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Current driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays and on-call hours.
  • Maintenance, mechanical or electrical experience and/or suitable background.
  • Basic computer operation including the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to collect and interpret data and write clear, accurate reports and specifications.
  • Experience with Gas and or Diesel reciprocating engines.
  • Experience with Caterpillar reciprocating engines.
  • Experience with LFG Power Generation Systems.
  • Experience with LFG extraction and use systems and equipment.
  • Ability to perform minor repairs and overhaul mechanical & electrical equipment.
  • Familiarity with the operation of instrumentation and process control equipment and systems.
  • Proficient in using computers, instrumentation, metering and/or monitoring equipment to measure, record and adjust within operating parameters.
  • Basic electrical skills with the ability to fault find and carry out preventive maintenance on electrical equipment, such as PLC's, Generators, High Voltage and or Control systems
  • Basic mechanical skills with the ability to fault find and carry out preventive maintenance on mechanical equipment, including engines, compressors, pumps and valves.
