Operations Training Specialist (Transportation)

The Doe Run Company is seeking an Operations Training Specialist to support operations strategy, goals, and objectives by enhancing the skills and knowledge of operations employees to safely and effectively perform their job duties and prepare for career growth. This position is based out of our West Fork location in Centerville, MO.

Education & Experience:

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on mobile equipment operation.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in mining, construction, or a related field.
  • One year of training experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Basic knowledge and application of the theories, practices, and methods in training and employee development.
  • Basic knowledge of learning management systems preferred.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the administration and deployment of training for job duties pertaining to vehicles and equipment, operations technology or programs, and continuous improvement in the operations, including career paths and certification programs for each operational area.
  • Deliver high-quality training in an engaging and informative manner using a variety of training techniques; Administer and oversee training delivered by internal or external instructors including training trainers to deliver standardized instruction.
  • Work proactively with stakeholders to evaluate training needs, and develop training and instructional materials, manuals, standard operating procedures, and assessments to enhance employee knowledge and skills.
  • Research best practices in employee development, training tactics, learning management systems, and continuous improvement to provide the most effective training possible.
  • Promote training and development in the operations, create and publicize training programs and schedules, and ensure facilities and supplies are prepared for training classes.
  • Use technology to track and monitor the employee's completion of training and development programs.
  • Conduct follow-up studies of all completed training to evaluate and measure results. Modify programs as needed.
  • Complete tasks in a safe and environmentally compliant manner by following EHS (environmental, health, and safety) policies, procedures, and best practices; support and assist peers in working in a safe, compliant manner; report unsafe acts or conditions, incidents, and deviations; and provide feedback to support continuous improvement in EHS performance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment, Physical & Lifting Requirements:

  • Regularly use a computer/tablet; Frequently use a phone/radio.
  • Occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions, exposed to wet, humid conditions (non-weather), required to work underground and work near moving mechanical parts.
  • Regularly required to talk and hear; Frequently required to sit, stand, and walk; Occasionally required to feel attributes, grasp, drive; Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more and 20 inches or less.
  • Occasionally required to lift up to 5 pounds. Rarely lift up to 20 pounds.
