Job summary

ASR Group in Crockett, CA is seeking an Operations Training Specialist to design, coordinate, deploy and assess technical and operational training across the site, building employee competency and capability.

You will train coaches, deliver OJT, refresh training, and develop SOPs, PowerPoint materials, SOPs, and videos while ensuring Safety, Food Quality and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of professional experience.
• Training or manufacturing experience preferred.
• ATD certification preferred.

Overview

The Operations Training Specialist is responsible for the creation, coordination, deployment, and assessment of technical and operational training across the site to build employee competency and capability. The role trains and coaches production line/area based trainers to deliver on‑the‑job training (OJT) to new employees, provides refresher training and training for new equipment and processes, and creates training delivery tools that ensure each person receives Safety, Food Quality, and operational excellence training.

Position Responsibilities

• Partner with Operations subject matter experts (SME) to develop standard operating procedures (“Work Instructions”).
• Partner with Operational Managers to design, develop, and support delivery and evaluation of technical training programs around Packaging, Process, and Maintenance.
• Collaborate with Learning & Development (L&D), site SMEs, and stakeholders to create interactive, accessible training in multiple formats including written SOPs, PowerPoint with photos and annotations, and video with annotations that achieve a consistent delivery of information.
• Deliver Train the Trainer training courses and ongoing coaching support to operators providing OJT to new employees.
• Audit, spot‑check, and rectify compliance gaps on work instructions and training material where identified.
• In partnership with L&D, ensure consistency of application of training across the business and maintain alignment with corporate learning strategy.
• Understand and support individual development needs and plans where required by Operations.
• Assist with the implementation of CAPEX projects in relation to timetables of training, familiarization, and learning curves, which may require travel to the equipment manufacturer for training and capture of training materials.
• Develop effective relationships with the L&D and HR teams, specifically in relation to onboarding and performance assessment of new employees.
• Drive continuous improvement in all technical learning & development processes.
• Understand, use, and support end‑users of the company’s Learning Management System (SuccessFactors).
• Work various shifts, including Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and weekends as required by business needs.

Work Experience Requirements

• 5–8 years of professional experience.
• Training or manufacturing experience preferred.

Education Requirements

• ATD certification preferred.
• Six Sigma background preferred.
• Instructional Design background preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

• Relevant industry experience.
• Good understanding of relevant Health & Safety legislation and regulations.
• Detailed experience with relevant work processes and safe use of equipment.
• Strong relationship‑building and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to work on own initiative, to tight deadlines in a demanding environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Location of Role

• Crockett, CA.
• 10% domestic travel.

Salary Range: $68,000 – $126,000. The pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s qualifications and prior experience.
