Superior Metals Manufacturing (SMM) is hiring Operations Technicians for Night Shift at our Chittenango, NY facility. This entry-level role offers full training, a starting pay of $22.54/hr plus quarterly bonuses and a $1,000 sign-on bonus. A $3/hr night-shift differential is available for 3rd shift.

The position involves handling revert metals, assisting furnace operations, and learning to operate basic plant equipment in a fast-paced, safety-focused environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Basic math for weighing and measuring.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, clean, sort, resize, and weigh recycled metals (“revert”) for melting.
• Operate basic equipment after training (grinders, analyzers, cut-off saws).
• Record weights, batch data, and traceability information.
• Organize, stage, label, and prepare materials for furnace charging.
• Assist furnace operators by delivering charge materials safely.
• Safely operate cranes, hoists, and forklifts (training provided).
• Follow SOPs, work instructions, and safety requirements.
• Maintain clean, organized work areas and 5S standards.
• Communicate effectively to support production flow and problem-solving.

Job Summary: This role supports daily production in a fast-paced, safety-driven environment. QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to learn industrial equipment
• Ability to read/follow written instructions and safety procedures
• Basic math skills for weighing and measuring
• Strong attention to detail and reliability
• Basic Computer skills are needed.
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment
• Forklift certification preferred or ability to obtain within 90 days
• Ability to work overtime and work on-site in Chittenango, NY
