Job summary

Williams Companies, Inc. in Bowling Green, Ohio, is seeking an Operations Technician to maintain one of our large fuel-handling facilities. You will read drawings, inspect gear, and support pipeline operations while meeting safety and regulatory standards.

You’ll collaborate with teammates to analyze data, troubleshoot equipment, and maintain records for performance and compliance. This role requires lifting, climbing, and extended shifts with PPE, and may involve travel between sites.

Qualifications

  • Valid State Driver’s License with a clean driving record.

What You’ll Experience

As an Operations Technician, you’ll be part of a dynamic team maintaining one of Williams’ largest installations of horsepower and power distribution equipment. You’ll gain valuable experience working with:

  • Gas turbines and high-speed reciprocating engines
  • Medium voltage generators and power distribution systems
  • Environmental controls and distributed control systems

You’ll also support construction projects, troubleshoot equipment, and analyze data to solve technical challenges—all while growing into a respected leader among your peers.

What You’ll Do

As an experienced operations technician, your expertise will be central to the success of our facility. Your tasks will include:

  • Keeping our equipment running safely and smoothly by performing a range of hands‑on tasks, from reading drawings to inspecting gear and supporting pipeline operations—all while meeting technical standards and regulations
  • Collaborating with your teammates to analyze data and find solutions to technical or operational challenges, making a real impact every day
  • Following our company policies and using the right procedures to ensure efficient and safe operations
  • Learning and applying the requirements for safe, effective facility operations, while protecting our team, community, environment, and assets
  • Staying familiar with your site, equipment, and permits to help maintain compliance and support smooth operations
  • Maintaining accurate records of process operations, completing reports and logs, and assisting with preventive maintenance to ensure top equipment performance
  • Helping with other projects and responsibilities as needed
What You’ll Bring

Required for All Levels:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid State Driver’s License and clean driving record
  • Willingness to work shifts, overtime, and travel between locations
  • Ability to work in extreme conditions and elevated areas with PPE
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to safety and operational excellence
Preferred Qualifications by Level
  • Technician I: 6+ months of operations experience, or internship with Associate degree
  • Technician II: 2+ years of operations experience, preferably in oil & gas
  • Technician III: 3+ years of operations experience, preferably in oil & gas
  • Technician Sr: 6+ years of operations experience with similar equipment or facilities; Associate degree preferred

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and PC applications
  • Ability to embrace new technologies and drive operational efficiency
Work Environment & Schedule
  • Work in a variety of conditions, including extreme temperatures, loud areas, and confined spaces
  • Lift up to 50 lbs (team lift for heavier loads)
  • Perform physical tasks like standing, walking, climbing, bending, and squatting for extended periods
  • Work at heights using ladders, scaffolding, or lifts, with proper PPE
  • Use hand tools regularly
  • Be available for rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on‑call duty
  • Expect 10–12 hour shifts with potential overtime
  • Travel between locations with occasional overnight stays
