Job summary

Williams is seeking an I&E-focused Operations Technician to maintain and optimize electrical and control systems across our facilities. You will install, troubleshoot, and repair equipment, including switchgear, motor controls, PLCs, and control loops, contributing to reliable and safe plant operations.

The role requires flexibility for shifts, travel between locations, and the ability to work in harsh conditions with PPE. A strong safety mindset and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Valid State Driver's License with clean record.
  • Willingness to work shifts, overtime, and travel between locations.
  • Ability to work in extreme conditions and confined spaces with PPE.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safety and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical and instrumentation systems (switchgear, motor controls, control loops, PLCs).
  • Identify root causes of equipment issues and implement corrective actions to reduce downtime.
  • Maintain and repair process control systems to support efficient plant operations.
  • Collaborate with project teams to define scope and instrumentation specifications for new installations/upgrades.
  • Perform additional duties to support operations.

What You’ll Experience

What You’ll Do

As an I&E-focused Operations Technician, you'll play a critical role in maintaining and optimizing the electrical and control systems that keep our facilities running. Your responsibilities may include:

  • Installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical and instrumentation systems, including switchgear, motor controls, control loops, PLCs (Allen Bradley), and both AC/DC systems.
  • Ensuring safe and reliable operations by identifying root causes of equipment issues and implementing corrective actions to reduce downtime.
  • Maintaining and repairing process control systems to support efficient plant operations.
  • Collaborating with project teams to define scope and instrumentation specifications for new installations and upgrades.
  • Performing additional duties as needed to support operations.
What You’ll Bring

Required for All Levels:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid State Driver's License and clean driving record
  • Willingness to work shifts, overtime, and travel between locations
  • Ability to work in extreme conditions and elevated areas with PPE
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to safety and operational excellence
Preferred Qualifications by Level
  • Technician II: 2+ years of related experience, preferably in oil & gas
  • Technician III: 3+ years of technician experience, preferably in oil & gas
  • Technician Sr: 6+ years of experience with similar equipment or facilities; Associate degree preferred
Tech Skills That Set You Apart
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and PC applications
  • Familiarity with Process Control Systems and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
  • Ability to embrace new technologies and drive operational efficiency
Work Environment & Schedule
  • Work in a variety of conditions, including extreme temperatures, loud areas, and confined spaces
  • Lift up to 50 lbs (team lift for heavier loads)
  • Perform physical tasks like standing, walking, climbing, bending, and squatting for extended periods
  • Work at heights using ladders, scaffolding, or lifts, with proper PPE
  • Use hand tools regularly
  • Be available for rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call duty
  • Expect 10-12 hour shifts with potential overtime
  • Travel between locations with occasional overnight stays
