Job summary

Air Products in Liberal, KS seeks an Operations Technician to maintain and operate the Helium Plants and Air Separation unit with a strong safety focus. This role supports 12-hour rotating shifts, nights, days, weekends and holidays, ensuring reliable helium production at cryogenic temperatures.

You will collaborate with a team of Operations Technicians, Mechanical, I/E Technicians and Process Engineers, calibrate analyzers, and learn to move large containers onsite using a tractor.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical proficiency.

• Ability to read piping schematics/diagrams.
• Familiar with lockout/tagout procedures.

Responsibilities

• Participate in Basic Safety Process as Site Safety Committee member.
• Control and monitor continuous manufacturing processes for helium at cryogenic temperatures.
• Work with compressors, pumps and other rotating equipment.
• Assist in plant equipment mechanical repairs and troubleshooting.
• Calibrate analytical analyzers.
• Learn to operate a tractor (semi-truck) for moving large containers onsite.

We are seeking a highly motivated and safety-consciousOperations Technicianto join our operations team inLiberal, KS. The Liberal Helium Facility is located 12 miles East of Liberal, KS and is Air Products’ main helium liquid supplier within North America.

The Operations Technician will work hand in hand with other Operations Technicians, Mechanical Technician, I/E Technician, and Process Engineers to safely and efficiently maintain and operate the Helium Plants, Air Separation unit and Transfill Operation to include participating in the management of effective safety programs.

Key Job Responsibilities:

• Active participation in the Basic Safety Process as a key member of the Site Safety Committee.
• Controlling and monitoring the continuous manufacturing processes to produce helium at cryogenic temperatures.

• Assist in plant equipment mechanical repairs and troubleshooting.
• Calibrate analytical analyzers.

Required Skills / Abilities:

• A strong mechanical proficiency
• A strong commitment to safety, working as a team, and operational perfection.
• A self-starter with a strong work ethic.
• Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts night’s, days, weekends and holidays.
• Ability to read and interpret piping schematics/ diagrams.
• Applying written procedures for starting and stopping equipment.
• Isolating systems for maintenance using work permits and lock out tag out processes.
• Performing water chemistry testing.
• Operating manual and pneumatic valves.

Minimum Hiring Requirements:

• High school diploma and/ or equivalent.
• Process Technology certificate or degree a plus
