Summary

The Operations Technician will provide general support to the Plant Sciences teams by performing a wide variety of tasks aimed at helping the group operate safely, consistently, and efficiently. The scope of responsibilities will include tasks primarily in the areas of Operations, Lab Support, and Equipment Maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

• Adheres to and model safe work practices and guidelines in the workplace.
• Maintains clear and constant lines of communication with team members and other supported groups.
• Is responsible for performing a wide variety of duties. Including, but not limited to, the following: receiving shipments, stockroom administration, supplies inventory, basic lab equipment repair/maintenance/cleaning, lab prep/chores.
• Will assist Lab Supervisor in areas of purchasing, safety, and other duties as assigned.
  
  
  

Typical Education

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

Relevant Experience

• 1+ years related experience and/or training
• Must be proficient in MS Outlook, Excel, and Word.
• Must be able to read and understand documentation such as, laboratory SOPs, technical manuals, equipment manuals, chemical labels, and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
• Must be familiar with general electrical and mechanical principles to perform maintenance and troubleshooting of lab equipment.
• Must be self-motivated and able to work independently.
• Must be able to able to balance multiple tasks, be flexible and work well under pressure
• Must have the ability to lift 50lbs, climb ladders, kneel, bend, and twist.
• Must have valid driver’s license and be able to drive company vehicles.
  
  
  

Required Certifications

• Ability to obtain Forklift Operator Certification
  
  
  

Other Information

Good knowledge of computer systems including Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel. Ability to learn new software systems. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
