Job summary

Air Products in Port Arthur, TX is seeking an Operations Technician to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot plant equipment, supporting on-stream performance and reliability. You will join a safety-conscious team and contribute to continuous improvement while working 12-hour rotating shifts on weekends and on-call rotations.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, with preferred process-technology certification or 3+ years in manufacturing.

  • Participate in core safety processes as an active Site Safety Committee member.
  • Support day-to-day plant operations to meet on-stream, production, and reliability targets.
  • Investigate equipment failures, determine root causes, and recommend solutions to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain error-free execution with attention to detail and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Assist in planning and execution of minor and major shutdowns, providing technical, hands-on support.
  • Provide troubleshooting expertise for production units.
  • Follow established operating procedures and safety rules.

The Port Arthur facility includes two Steam Methane Reformers (SMRs) with integrated gas turbine generators, as well as CO2 capture systems at both SMRs, supporting enhanced oil recovery. The site is connected to an existing hydrogen pipeline system that spans from New Orleans to the Houston Ship Channel, supplying hydrogen to an integrated network serving customers across the Gulf Coast. As an operator, you are responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting equipment within the facility.
