Job summary

Wirelessservices is seeking an Operations Technician in Miami to maintain DAS venues and support construction tasks for telecom facilities including DAS, Wi‑Fi, towers and small cells. The OT will focus on warranty and maintenance obligations and technology modernization.

The role requires proficiency with coaxial and fiber optic installation, DAS equipment and head‑end gear, plus project management tools and RF data interpretation. On‑site work with some testing and commissioning is expected.

Qualifications

• Certified to terminate coaxial cable.
• Experience handling, installing and supporting coaxial cable.
• Experience installing fiber optic cable.
• Experience installing DAS equipment, antennas and head-end equipment.

Responsibilities

• Reports to the DFS.
• Support the Operations Manager and Director of Construction Services with tasks related to telecom facilities including DAS, Wi-Fi, Cell Towers, Femto-Cells and Small Cells.
• Perform construction tasks: cable pulling, connectorizing, mounting equipment, assembling racks, testing lines, troubleshooting and commissioning.
• Obtain and maintain required technical certifications.
• Conduct business in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Perform additional tasks as requested by supervisor.

Job description

The Operations Technician (OT) is responsible for providing focus on maintaining DAS venues in which a maintenance and monitoring contract exists. The Operations Technician also has various tasks related to performing the physical construction aspect of the project and is the first line of defense at a venue with respect to meeting contractual warranty and maintenance obligations as well as performing various technology modernization tasks.

The Operations Technician should at a minimum have the following qualifications: certified to terminate coaxial cable; knowledge and experience on the proper handling, installing and supporting of coaxial cable; knowledge and experience with the installation of fiber optic cable; and knowledge and experience with the installation of DAS equipment, antennas and other equipment such as Carrier Base Station equipment and other head‑end equipment.

Operations Technician’s Roles and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Reports to the DFS
• Supports the Operations Manager and Director of Construction Services with multiple tasks related to the implementation of various telecommunications facilities including DAS, Wi‑Fi, Cell Towers, Femto-Cells and Small Cells
• Supports and performs all construction needs including but not limited to: cable pulling, connectorizing, mounting of equipment, assembling racks, testing lines (coaxial and fiber optic cable), troubleshooting systems, preventative maintenance, CW testing and commissioning
• Obtains and maintains required technical certifications
• Conducts all business in accordance with Company policies and procedures
• Performs all other tasks that may be required or requested by their supervisor

Operations Technicians are required to be proficient with the following technologies: Microsoft Office Suite of software including but not limited to Mail, Calendar, People, OneDrive, SharePoint, Planner, Tasks, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Publisher and MS Project.

Operations Technicians are also required to become proficient with the Company’s Project Management Tools as well as any other technology the Company deploys.

Operations Technicians should be proficient with the use of the following testing equipment such as but not limited to: Solutelia, Anritsu, PIM, OTDR and other equipment necessary to perform their assigned tasks. They should also be proficient with the interpretation of RF data collection, coaxial sweep test results, OTDR and CAT type cable test. In addition, Operations Technicians should be current with the technology for the various OEMs the Company generally installs including but not limited to: Airspan, Solid, JMA, ADRF, Andrew, and others.
