Job summary

Trillium Foods in Cincinnati, OH seeks an Operations Technical Writer to develop and maintain clear technical documentation for manufacturing, maintenance, and training. Responsibilities

• Create, update, and maintain SOPs, work instructions, PM instructions, checklists, and other technical docs for plant equipment and processes.
• Provide documentation and training support across Maintenance, Cooks, Line Operators, Line Leads, and other Operations teams.
• Work directly with employees and subject matter experts on the production floor to observe, understand, and document how equipment and processes are operated.
• Develop machine-specific training materials and visual job aids to support consistent and effective employee training across production equipment.
• Develop and maintain equipment centerlines, including standard operating settings, parameters, and procedures.
• Support the PMS by creating and maintaining equipment and maintenance documentation.
• Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Safety, and Training to reflect current plant practices.
• Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits by ensuring documentation is current, accurate, organized, and accessible.
• Maintain proper document control, including revisions, approvals, version history, and removal of outdated docs.

Position Overview

Trillium Foods is seeking an Operations Technical Writer to support our Cincinnati manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for developing, organizing, and maintaining clear, accurate, and user-friendly technical documentation that supports manufacturing operations, preventative maintenance, equipment reliability, employee training, and audit readiness.

The Operations Technical Writer will work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Safety, Training, and other departments to observe processes, gather technical information, and translate that information into standardized documentation that employees can easily understand and follow.

This is a hands-on role that requires spending time on the production floor working directly with employees and subject matter experts to understand how equipment and processes operate.

Key Responsibilities

• Create, update, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions, Preventative Maintenance (PM) instructions, checklists, and other technical documentation for plant equipment and processes.
• Provide documentation and training support across Maintenance, Cooks, Line Operators, Line Leads, and other Operations teams.
• Work directly with employees and subject matter experts on the production floor to observe, understand, and document how equipment and processes are operated.

• Maintain proper document control, including revisions, approvals, version history, and removal of outdated documentation.

Qualifications

• Strong written communication, organization, and attention to detail.
• Ability to translate technical information into clear, step-by-step instructions.
• Comfortable working in both an office and manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and other documentation tools.
• Manufacturing experience preferred; food or beverage manufacturing experience is a plus.
• Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus, particularly when supporting employee training and developing easy-to-understand work instructions.
• Ability to travel up to 10% to Trillium Foods locations in Pennsylvania and Brundidge, Alabama, as needed to support operations, training, documentation, and other business needs.

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 1–3 years of experience in technical writing, manufacturing, maintenance, engineering support, or a related field preferred.
