Job summary

Vertiv in Ohio seeks a Learning & Development professional to design and improve technical training programs for manufacturing operations, translating complex engineering requirements into curricula, labs, and on‑the‑job training.

You will work with Engineering, Operations, Quality, EHS, and SMEs to align training with priorities and ensure safe, compliant learning experiences across high‑current electrical environments. Sponsorship is not provided; US work authorization is required.

Qualifications

  • Experience in Learning & Development, technical training, instructional design, manufacturing, engineering, electrical systems, or a related technical field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related discipline plus 4 years of combined engineering or technical experience; OR
  • Associate’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology or related rating with 6 years of combined engineering or technical experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands‑on experience with industrial electrical systems and power conversion equipment rated at 480VAC or higher.
  • Experience with electrical engineering, troubleshooting, power systems, controls, automation, electrical maintenance, or power distribution.
  • Manufacturing, high‑current, or industrial environment experience preferred.
  • Experience or certification with NFPA 70E and OSHA regulations and procedures.
  • Understanding of instructional design, adult learning and blended learning approaches.
  • Strong analytical skills to use training data for improvements.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with engineers, technicians, operators, supervisors, and leadership.
  • Ability to influence, guide, and support others without direct authority.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with multiple priorities.
  • Familiarity with Kaizen, Standardized Work, Lean Manufacturing, and 5S.

  • Develop risk assessment and change‑readiness processes to minimize disruption.
  • Manage LMS enrollments, reporting, curricula, and communications.
  • Develop long‑term upskilling, cross‑training, qualification, and recertification programs.
  • Establish competency models and qualification pathways that evolve with technology and regulations.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and continuously improve technical training programs that support manufacturing operations and business goals.
  • Assess learning needs and translate technical requirements into structured curricula, learning paths, training materials, hands‑on labs, and OJT programs.
  • Partner with business leaders, Engineering, Operations, Quality, EHS, and SMEs to align training with organizational priorities.
  • Convert technical knowledge, engineering requirements, equipment specifications, and processes into effective learning experiences.
  • Establish standardized technical workflows, training content, and safety practices that accurately reflect equipment requirements, electrical hazards, and site procedures.
  • Support new products, technologies, engineering changes, manufacturing processes, and equipment implementations.
  • Support the NPDI phase‑gate process by developing workforce readiness plans, prototype assembly line training, and technical documentation ahead of commercial launch.
  • Design and implement Train‑the‑Trainer programs to build technical and operational capability.
  • Review and approve training documentation, technical labs, work instructions, and OJT materials.
  • Conduct audits and evaluations to identify skill gaps and establish measurable training and operational improvements.
  • Develop technical risk assessment and change‑readiness processes to help minimize production disruption, yield loss, and skill gaps during major process or infrastructure changes.
  • Manage LMS enrollments, reporting, curricula, training requirements, and communications.
  • Develop long‑term upskilling, cross‑training, qualification, and recertification programs for technical personnel.
  • Establish competency models and qualification pathways that adapt to evolving technology and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
  • Experience in Learning & Development, technical training, instructional design, manufacturing, engineering, electrical systems, or a related technical field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline plus 4 years of combined engineering or technical experience; OR
  • Associate’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology or Honorable Military Service in a related technical rating/MOS plus 6 years of combined engineering or technical experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of direct, hands‑on experience with industrial electrical systems and power conversion equipment rated at 480VAC or higher.
  • Experience with electrical engineering, troubleshooting, power systems, industrial electrical systems, controls, automation, electrical maintenance, or power distribution.
  • Manufacturing, high‑current, or industrial environment experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience or certification with NFPA 70E and OSHA regulations and procedures.
  • Understanding of instructional design, adult learning principles, and blended learning approaches.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to use training and operational data to identify gaps and drive improvements.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to work effectively with engineers, technicians, operators, supervisors, and leadership.
  • Ability to influence, guide, and support others without direct authority.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation, engineering specifications, work instructions, electrical schematics, and related technical resources.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

This position works across office, training, engineering, laboratory, and manufacturing environments, including areas supporting high‑current electrical equipment.

The role requires:

  • Frequent movement between offices, training rooms, engineering areas, laboratories, and manufacturing areas.
  • Standing for extended periods during classroom, hands‑on, and technical training.
  • Occasional lifting of materials or equipment up to 25 lbs.
  • Use of office, training, laboratory, and technical equipment.
  • Wearing required PPE, including safety glasses, steel‑toe shoes, and other PPE required for specific manufacturing or electrical environments.

The work environment may include active production areas, machinery, electrical equipment, noise, varying temperatures, and electrically hazardous environments. Adherence to all safety protocols is required.
