Located in Durango, CO, (Headquarters) and Mount Pleasant, PA (Additive Manufacturing Center) and now expanding into Tulsa, OK. Agile Space Industries, Inc. (AGILE) designs, builds, and tests in-space propulsion systems for satellites and spacecraft. AGILE uses state of the art 3D metal alloy printing techniques to rapidly design, manufacture, and test new engine designs in our purpose-built propulsion test facility. With over a decade of experience testing rocket engines, and engineers who have worked at industry leaders like Blue Origin, SpaceX, NASA, and Rocketdyne, AGILE is a rapidly growing company with many exciting Defense, Civil and Commercial programs.

Job Title: Operations Technical Manager - Hypergolic Testing Facility

Company Overview: Agile Space is rapidly growing its Testing and Manufacturing capabilities as we continue to support advanced space programs with creative solutions. Our objective is to provide enhanced capacity for the industry to be able to test hypergolic engines in a modern facility consistent with Agile’s other testing facilities. Through that expansion, we are looking for a skilled Operations Technical Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations, ensuring the efficient and safe execution of testing procedures, and maintaining the facility’s infrastructure for maximum uptime.

Position Overview: The Operations Technical Manager will be responsible for the daily operational management of the hypergolic testing facility, ensuring seamless execution of all testing activities. This role will require expertise in the technical aspects of facility operations, equipment management, and safety protocols. The manager will also be responsible for designing, maintaining, and optimizing the industrial infrastructure to maximize uptime and ensure the highest standards of safety and efficiency. This position will report to the Tulsa General Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Daily Operations Management:

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the hypergolic testing facility, ensuring tests are executed in a safe, efficient, and timely manner.
• Coordinate the testing schedule, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively and that testing operations meet client and regulatory requirements.
• Provide technical oversight during testing activities, ensuring that all tests adhere to established protocols and industry standards.

Facility Design and Maintenance:

• Collaborate with the General Manager and engineering teams to ensure that the design of the facility meets the necessary technical and operational requirements for hypergolic testing.
• Lead efforts to ensure the ongoing maintenance and optimization of the facility’s infrastructure, including testing equipment, safety systems, and building systems, to minimize downtime and prevent operational disruptions.
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the reliability and efficiency of testing equipment and processes.

Equipment Management and Calibration:

• Oversee the management, calibration, and maintenance of all testing equipment to ensure peak performance and compliance with industry standards.
• Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules to reduce the likelihood of equipment failure.
• Ensure troubleshooting, repair, and calibration processes are conducted promptly to minimize downtime.

Safety & Compliance Oversight:

• Enforce strict safety protocols during testing activities, ensuring all personnel comply with OSHA and facility-specific safety guidelines.
• Monitor and manage compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and other relevant industry guidelines specific to hypergolic testing.
• Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement mitigation strategies.

Team Leadership and Training:

• Supervise a team of technical staff, including technicians and maintenance personnel, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to operational procedures.
• Provide ongoing training and development for staff, ensuring they are equipped with the latest knowledge on equipment, testing procedures, and safety protocols.
• Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture within the operations team.

Operational Reporting & Performance Metrics:

• Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to facility uptime, testing throughput, and equipment efficiency.
• Provide regular operational reports to the General Manager, highlighting performance, issues, and areas for improvement.
• Analyze operational data and propose actionable recommendations for process improvements to maximize testing efficiency and equipment reliability.
• Identify areas for process improvement and efficiency gains within the testing operations and facility management.
• Work with cross-functional teams to implement best practices and innovative solutions that enhance the operational performance of the testing facility.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field. A technical certification in industrial or manufacturing operations is a plus.
• At least 10 years of experience with time in facility operations management, with a focus on industrial testing or highly technical operations (hypergolic, chemical, aerospace, etc.) Preference for at least 3 years of team management/leadership for teams of up to 15 people.
• Proven experience with the design, maintenance, and optimization of industrial testing facilities and equipment.
• Strong technical knowledge of testing processes, equipment, and maintenance practices, particularly in the context of hypergolic testing or similar hazardous materials testing environments.
• In-depth understanding of safety standards, compliance regulations, and best practices in industrial operations.
• Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and process optimization skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and team management experience, with the ability to motivate and manage technical personnel effectively.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and report on operational metrics to senior management.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
