Overview

Curtin Co. provides concrete barrier safety systems for heavy highway construction job sites, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficiently protected work zones for contractors and the traveling public. The Operations Support Manager plays a critical role in supporting these operations by serving as a bridge between field operations and administration. This role helps resolve project-related issues involving contractual obligations, invoicing, project forecasting, change orders, and claim-related items, ensuring seamless execution from contract award through project completion.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the proper implementation of Heavy Jobs into Curtin Co.’s daily operations.
  • Act as the point of contact for field personnel using the system, and assist with training and ongoing system management.
  • Track project schedules from the date a contract is issued through completion. This includes establishing project timelines and updating progress and forecasts on a monthly or quarterly basis.
  • Assist estimating with contract change orders.
  • Confirm with contract administration that the change order is fully executed before releasing it to field operations for execution.
  • Track project progress for any delays, changes, or issues that may affect our scope of work.
  • Notify the contractor of any issues that may result in a claim related to our contract items.
  • Compile all necessary information to support a project claim, including filing the required DOT paperwork providing notice of claim.
  • Assist the billing department in resolving discrepancies between reported quantities and paid quantities; resolving these issues before invoices are submitted.
  • Assist in resolving any project issues involving our contract items, including any conflicts with contractors, other subcontractors, inspection groups, safety concerns, and product or material certifications.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Business, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in construction operations, project coordination, or contract administration; preferred highway construction experience.
  • Familiarity with DOT specifications, contract documents, and change order processes.
  • Proficiency with construction/project management software (e.g., Heavy Jobs) and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to read construction plans, track quantities, and support invoicing processes.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively with field crews and administrative teams.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to visit job sites as needed.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as within a cross-functional team environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve practical problems, make logical decisions and communicate ideas.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds at times.
  • May occasionally be exposed to noise, dust, and a variety of substances that are typically associated with a construction site.
