Penske Logistics is seeking a proven leader with relevant experience and skills to join our team of transportation and logistics professionals. We are looking for a candidate to supervise drivers at one of our locations.

The Operations Supervisor provides direction at a single location, leading staff to ensure customer requirements are met while achieving Penske's goals and objectives.

Position Summary:

Provide operational leadership to individual contributors and the hourly workforce to ensure the execution of daily tasks, including driver deliveries, loading/unloading trailers, and customer service operations, in line with company services and cost objectives. Supervise processes directly, including people, systems, customer needs, and equipment. Responsible for performance management of direct reports, including corrective actions and disciplinary decisions up to written warnings. Involved in hiring and customer meetings as necessary.

Major Responsibilities:
People
  • Establish and sustain that all supervisors and associates are trained, competent, and understand how their work relates to customer objectives.
  • Communicate performance standards that are specific and measurable.
  • Interview hourly associates and provide recommendations for hire.
  • Monitor attendance, productivity, and other performance standards; provide coaching and counseling.
  • Motivate and engage associates through team accomplishments and recognition.
Operations
  • Supervise logistics operations, including customer service, freight loading/unloading, dispatch, and documentation control.
  • Conduct team meetings.
  • Evaluate and recommend changes to improve dispatch productivity; assist in training new associates.
  • Provide relief coverage as needed.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of site operating systems for compliance and exception resolution.
  • Complete records and reports accurately and timely.
Finance
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies (tracking MPG, damages, etc.).
  • Understand decision-making's impact on profitability.
  • Manage associates' hours and activities to minimize overtime and meet productivity targets.
Safety
  • Align daily activities with the safety strategy.
  • Provide training, feedback, and direction for safe performance.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and policies.
  • Conduct safety observations.
Growth / Customer Experience
  • Meet and exceed location-specific customer goals.
  • Communicate our commitment to customer success.
  • Identify areas for continuous improvement.
Fleet/Assets
  • Plan work assignments for effective fleet use.
  • Ensure safe and efficient equipment operation.
  • Coordinate with vendors for maintenance.
  • Work with Penske Truck Leasing for preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Handle other projects as assigned.
Job Qualifications:

  • Regular attendance is essential.
  • Willingness to travel, work scheduled hours, and pass background and drug screenings.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to read, communicate, analyze information, and follow instructions.
  • Stand, walk, sit, and occasionally lift/move up to 25 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception.

Schedule: WED - SAT, 6PM - 6AM (hours vary)

Salary: $54,900 – $72,700, bonus eligible up to 12%
