SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Residential Route Supervisor is responsible for supervising daily service delivery to residential Waste Pro customers, ensuring safe, timely, and cost-effective services in accordance with Waste Pro practices, procedures, and regulations. This role emphasizes Waste Pro Core Values and Positive Leadership in supervising drivers.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Supervise drivers and daily operations; greet drivers, ensure inspections, and communicate key service points, safety, and equipment issues, fostering team understanding of core values.
- Maintain a clean, safe work environment and ensure policy compliance.
- Share decision-driving techniques, enforce safety guidelines, and lead weekly safety meetings.
- Manage new service routes, review productivity reports, optimize routes, and coordinate service cancellations.
- Ensure high service quality, respond to dispatch communications, address customer issues, and coordinate with municipal authorities.
- Perform route safety observations, ensure proper can and equipment condition, and review safety and cleanliness with drivers.
- Monitor vehicle inspections and repairs, coordinate with the shop, and ensure proper vehicle maintenance.
- Oversee driver time, attendance, route documentation, and compliance with DOT regulations.
- Handle accident and injury reports, and participate in investigations and claims processes.
- Train new employees and conduct performance evaluations, applying positive leadership principles.
- Ensure daily cleaning of front loaders.
- Drive or assist on routes as needed to cover shortages or delays.
OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in training courses as assigned.
- Stay updated on current technology used by Waste Pro.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Primarily outdoor supervision in the field.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent with 3-5 years in transportation, management, logistics, or waste industry; or an Associate's Degree with 2+ years relevant experience.
- Knowledge of Smith System/Decision Driving principles.
- Basic computer skills, knowledge of OSHA, DOT, ANSI regulations.
- Valid Class A or B CDL or ability to obtain within 3 months.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently, make decisions, and resolve problems.
- Flexible schedule, including weekends, and availability by phone.
- Positive attitude towards staff and customers; first aid knowledge is a plus.
Physical Work Requirements:
Must be able to drive, work outdoors, handle objects up to 50 pounds, and work in environments with dirt, odors, noise, and weather extremes. Accommodations may be made for disabilities.
