General Dynamics Electric Boat in North Kingstown, RI is seeking an Operations Supervisor - OSM to lead daily production activities at the Quonset Point facility. The role focuses on safety, quality, schedule and cost objectives, with accountability for hourly workforce and continuous process improvements.

Responsibilities include assigning work, mentoring crews, coordinating multi-trade teams, and ensuring first-time quality in structural welding processes.

Competenze

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 year related experience at Electric Boat.
• Minimum of 1 year Electric Boat experience combined with a related Engineering degree.
• Minimum of 3 years combined leadership and high-volume experience.
• Working knowledge of re-entry controls/processing and ripouts.
• Working knowledge of SWSS and loading wire procedures.
• Able and available to work all assigned shifts and extended hours, as business needs dictate.
• Strong PC skills including MS Word and Excel.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the Department of Defense.

Overview

General Dynamics Electric Boat, the nation's premier designer and builder of nuclear submarines, is seeking Operations Supervisors to take part in building the most complex product in the world.

The Operations Supervisor - OSM must possess an energetic and positive attitude and be willing to change and develop as requirements of assigned tasks dictate.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Daily assignments and overall coordination of employees to ensure maximum performance, efficiency and quality of functions
• Ability to effectively organize and assign work to hourly employees such that safety, quality, schedule and cost objectives are met
• Ability to set, assign and measure daily production goals, instruct, mentor, motivate and hold crew members accountable as required
• Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, reduce work order span times, streamline work processes and work cooperatively with other multi-trade Supervisors on the team to provide first time quality on time, with particular attention to structural welding processes including SWSS and loading wire standards
• Well-versed in re-entry controls/processing and working in accordance with ripouts
• Implement process improvement projects and review production methods and capabilities
• Optimize efforts to meet objectives related to costs, scheduling, training, safety, and quality
• Possess knowledge of safe work practices; ability to comprehend and follow or issue verbal and /or written instructions; willing to work as necessary to support production needs
• Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with subordinates and supervisors

• Ability to interact with various levels of employees in the organization, including providing technical guidance to structural welders on SWSS and loading wire procedures

Qualifications

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must meet one of the following criteria:
  • Minimum of 1 year related experience at Electric Boat
  • Minimum of 1 year Electric Boat experience combined with a related Engineering degree
  • Minimum of 3 years combined, relevant, high-volume and leadership experience
• Working knowledge of re-entry controls/processing and working in accordance with ripouts
• Working knowledge of SWSS and loading wire procedures
• Able and available to work all assigned shifts and extended hours, as business needs dictate
• Possess strong PC skills including proficiency with MS Word and Excel
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the Department of Defense

Preferred:

• Minimum of 3 years machining, mechanical or millwright experience
• Proficiency in blueprint and drawing interpretation
• Vocational/College/Technical school or Apprentice Programs
• Relevant education or training
• Previous EB experience
• MDU training
• Relevant Navy/military experience
