Job summary

Woodside Energy in Houston is seeking an Operations Supervisor to oversee LNG Plant activities, ensuring safe, reliable daily production and strict adherence to HSEQ standards. You will coordinate shifts, approve shutdown schemes, and communicate effectively with engineering and maintenance teams.

The role demands at least ten years in LNG terminal or petrochemical operations with a minimum of three years in supervision.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of ten years combined operating/maintenance/engineering experience in LNG terminal and/or petrochemical/gas.
  • At least three years operating supervisory experience.
  • Experience in LNG liquefaction facilities highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of safety and process safety requirements.
  • Ability to lead a large multi-skilled team and influence across the organisation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead HSEQ and process safety commitments and emergency response.
  • Set process guidelines for efficient operation and monitor adherence.
  • Manage permit to work governance and risk assessments.
  • Coordinate pre-transfer activities and ship unloading procedures.
  • Organize daily engineering/maintenance activities and set priorities.
  • Analyze plant operations performance to maximize reliability and throughput.
  • Provide Operation Readiness support and participate in OPS Peer Reviews.
  • Collaborate with engineering to integrate design decisions with operations.
  • Oversee capital projects and maintenance to minimize impact on LNG production.

Purpose

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the operational activities of the LNG Plant facility by following the technical and safety procedures and standards according to the Company business plan. The Operations Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that all operations/maintenance related activities are properly communicated with the shifts in charge and technology/engineering section involved on a shift basis. Prepares shutdown schemes with relevant instructions and spading provisions. Assures LNG production meets daily scheduled production requirements.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities
HSEQ & Process Safety
  • Manages a safe and healthy workplace for staff and ensure health, safety and emergency requirements are met including adequate emergency coverage. Provides leadership of emergency situations as required
  • Sets process guidelines for efficient operation and monitors adherence.
  • Leading risk identification and assessments to ensure conformance
  • Responsible for permit to work governance, process and permit requirements.
  • Provide quality operational input to HSE processes including HAZOPs, HAZIDs, technical reviews, etc.
  • Interfaces with ship's officer's to conduct pre-transfer meeting, coordinates pre-unloading ship activities, records events, calculates cargo quantities, and accurately completes customer unloading receipts.
LEADERSHIP
  • Supports Operations Readiness delivery and alignment of project and asset
EXCELLENCE
  • Accountable for ensuring the facility has the required level of competence and capability prior to RFSU of the project
WORK PROCESSES & SYSTEMS
  • Interfaces with the Maintenance Supervisors to plan and perform the maintenance of every piece of equipment and ensure its availability.
  • Organizes and plans daily engineering/maintenance related activities as efficiently as possible and sets priorities in consultation with the Operations superintendent. Performs analysis on frequent failures of equipment.
  • Analyzes the plant operations performance on his/her shift and makes the decisions required to get maximum terminal performance and reliability.
  • Provide Operation Readiness support and involvement in assurance processes (incl. Operation Readiness OPS Peer Reviews).
  • Supports development of all operations procedures and work instructions and train the operations staff in the safe, reliable, and efficient methods of LNG manufacturing through the general supervision of the Day Operations group
  • Collaborate with engineering to ensure Operations and Maintenance outcomes are an integral part of design decisions.
  • Provides leadership to the LNG facility, oversee the execution of capital projects, plan and organize projects and maintenance activities of staff to minimize impact on LNG production commitments.
  • Performs administrative activities to develop budget recommendations. Develops schedules, assigns, directs, motivates, monitors, and evaluates the work of operators; reviews and approves time sheets; schedules vacations.
Skills and Experience
  • Ability to identify and assess engineering and operational risk
  • Ability to influence and earn credibility across all levels of the organisation including contractors.
  • Demonstrated sound safety-based leadership and demonstrated ability to provide coaching to project personnel to ensure HSE in design and execution activities maintains a high focus.
  • Demonstrated skills to identify, report on and resolve project and people strategic issues.
  • Ability to lead a large multi-skilled team, with positive influence on team and organisation
  • Minimum of ten years combined operating/maintenance/engineering experience in LNG terminal and/or petrochemical/gas including a minimum of three years operating supervisory experience; Experience in LNG liquefaction facilities highly preferred
  • In depth and demonstrated knowledge of the project issues including safety and integrity requirements
  • In depth understanding and knowledge of Woodside processes and systems.
  • Knowledge in Process Safety Critical Role Competency
  • Understanding of engineering requirements for legislative, regulatory and business process compliance
  • A strong working relationship and collaborative partner in the interactions of maintenance activities and performance.
  • The incumbent is expected to perform duties that involve standing, walking, climbing, running, sitting, kneeling, twisting, bending, pulling, pushing, carrying, lifting, and driving. Most activities involve movement of either the upper and lower body extremities or both and the joints associated with these areas of the body.
