Job summary

The Suddath Companies is seeking an Operations Supervisor to oversee day-to-day warehouse operations across shifts, ensuring safety, efficiency and service levels. You will lead frontline staff, drive productivity, and support planning and continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include coordinating shipping/receiving, inventory control, and working with cross-functional teams to meet customer requirements. Strong leadership and prior WMS experience are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive warehouse or distribution operations experience.
  • Experience leading frontline operations staff in a high-volume or complex warehouse environment.
  • Experience with WMS, labor tracking, and operational performance metrics.
  • Safety compliance, operational planning, and employee performance management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, direct, and coordinate daily warehouse operations to ensure safe, efficient, and accurate execution of shipping, receiving, inventory control, and material handling activities.
  • Provide direct leadership, coaching, and accountability for operations staff, including work prioritization and staffing alignment.
  • Monitor productivity, labor utilization, quality, and service level metrics; analyze trends and implement continuous improvements.
  • Support workforce planning activities including scheduling, onboarding, training, and performance feedback.
  • Ensure OSHA safety compliance and oversee equipment maintenance and security procedures.
  • Serve as primary escalation point for customer issues and communicate outcomes.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to meet customer requirements and business objectives.
  • Maintain accurate operational documentation and system transactions (WMS).

This role provides direct leadership to operations staff, drives productivity and performance outcomes, and supports operational planning, staffing, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Operations Supervisor exercises independent judgment and serves as the primary on‑site operational leader in complex locations, operating between frontline execution and management oversight.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Lead, direct, and coordinate daily warehouse operations to ensure safe, efficient, and accurate execution of shipping, receiving, inventory control, and material handling activitiesProvide direct leadership, coaching, and accountability for operations staff, including work prioritization, staffing alignment, and real‑time operational decision‑makingMonitor productivity, labor utilization, quality, and service level metrics; analyze trends and implement corrective actions or process improvementsSupport workforce planning activities including scheduling, onboarding, training, performance feedback, and corrective action in partnership with managementEnsure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, security procedures, and operational standardsServe as the primary escalation point for customer issues, operational disruptions, and employee concerns; drive resolution and communicate outcomesCoordinate with cross‑functional teams (Operations, Transportation, Customer Service, HR) to meet customer requirements and business objectivesOversee proper use, inspection, and maintenance of warehouse equipment, material handling tools, and facility resourcesEnsure accuracy and completeness of operational documentation, inbound/outbound paperwork, inventory records, and system transactions (WMS)Assist with physical inventories, audits, and implementation of new processes, customer requirements, or operational initiativesModel leadership behaviors and promote a culture of safety, accountability, engagement, and continuous improvementQUALIFICATONS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
