Job summary

NOV is seeking a skilled Tooling Technician to support operation of Fortress Cyclops Setting Tools and coordinate with customer field representatives. You will disassemble, clean, inspect, rebuild, and test tools per Fortress work instructions, ensuring equipment readiness and safety compliance in a high-demand environment.

The role emphasizes hands-on maintenance, QA/QC, inventory control, and staff training.

Qualifications

  • Strong technical background with downhole tools used in pump-down operations.
  • Self-motivated and detail oriented.
  • Available to work weekends/holidays as needed.
  • Excellent problem solving and interpersonal communication.
  • Working knowledge of Windows 10 OS and Microsoft Office.
  • Forklift training.
  • Proficiency with basic hand tools.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 75 lbs.
  • Travel to other districts may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate tool needs between shop and upper management.
  • Disassemble, clean, inspect, rebuild, and test Fortress Cyclops Setting Tools.
  • Provide technical support/onboarding to customers.
  • Maintain equipment, tools, and PPE; ensure safety training compliance.
  • Oversee QA/QC policies and housekeeping to the highest standard.
  • Maintain inventory levels and track ongoing jobs for Fortress.
  • Supervise time sheets and staff scheduling.
  • Train and progress shop personnel; hire/fire as needed.
  • Create scheduling and grading of employees.
  • Ensure reports on activities are available to management.

  • Disassemble, clean, inspect, rebuild, and test Fortress Cyclops Setting Tools per the applicable Fortress Work Instructions
  • Provide technical support/onboarding to customers for Fortress Cyclops Setting Tools
  • Ensures all necessary equipment and tools are available and adequately maintained to perform all aspects of the job
  • Ensure all QA/QC policies & procedures are always top priority
  • Ensure all employees are up to date with safety training and PPE

  • Interviewing, hiring, and firing of Tool Assistants and Specialists
  • Train and progress shop personnel
  • Create scheduling and grading employees
  • Maintain reports on ongoing jobs and activity to Fortress management
  • Maintain adequate inventory levels
  • Oversee all technicians time sheets/days off
  • Ensure housekeeping is kept up to highest standard every day
  • Maintains the highest level of professionalism and works with honesty and integrity

Job Requirements
  • Strong technical background working with downhole tools utilized in pump down operations, including wireline setting tools, frac plugs, and perforating guns
  • Self-motivated and detail oriented
  • Available to work weekends and holidays as needed to support customer field operations
  • Excellent problem solving, interpersonal communication, and operational management skills
  • Working knowledge of Windows 10 OS, and Microsoft Office
  • Forklift training
  • Proficiency with basic hand tools
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 75 lbs
  • This position may require periodic travel to other districts as necessary to meet company needs and support operational initiatives.
