  • Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate staff; manage timecards daily.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain and Customer Service as internal customers.

JOB SUMMARY

The Operations Supervisor will be responsible for the day-to-day activities of assigned packaging, warehouse, or distribution operations and the supervision, performance, and time management of employees. The Operations Supervisor will model and act in accordance with our guiding principles and core values and serve as an example to their direct reports. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and timely execution of operational activities while maintaining quality standards, productivity expectations, and employee accountability. Leads frontline employees, monitors workflow, supports process improvements, and partners with cross-functional teams to achieve service goals. Requiring strong leadership of people who can drive execution, reinforce safety and quality expectations, and maintain a high-performing team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide leadership and guidance to staff in all activities
  • Manage Warehouse Management Software (WMS) in alignment with assigned work area.
  • Monitor work of all personnel and ensure achievement of all objectives and provide improvements to same if required
  • Motivate and coach Distribution Center staff to maximize productivity while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards
  • Create a labor plan for your area in collaboration with other Supervisors to ensure overall success of the Distribution Center
  • Enforce all company policies, SOPs, and safety regulations, ensuring adherence across the team
  • Monitor the safety, cleanliness, and overall condition of both interior and exterior facilities, proactively addressing issues
  • Perform process audits to ensure process is being adhered to
  • Identify processes improvements
  • Write and amend Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) with approval of Director of Operations
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain and Customer Service Teams and treat other departments and leaders as internal customers
  • Monitor and approve employee timecards daily
  • Recruit, interview, hire, and train new staff
  • Share performance feedback with subordinates and documents coaching conversations
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Must be able to work extended hours of the business including mornings, evenings, and weekends if required by the business needs

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES

  • Strong understanding of the distribution process and inventory control procedures
  • Knowledge of ERP and WMS
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Proficiency with material handling equipment.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, trains and supervises staff
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma required
  • Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred
  • Three to Five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Prolonged periods working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift, carry, and move items up to 50 pounds at times
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking
  • Ability to perform repetitive movements over long periods of time
  • Requires frequent reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crawling, climbing and crouching
  • Requires lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring equipment and materials
  • Requires regularly using verbal and written communication skills and must be able to hear and speak clearly
  • Requires periods of sitting and working on a computer
  • Requires frequent use of hands to grasp, handle, and manipulate objects
  • Requires specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

The office and warehouse is clean, orderly, properly lit and ventilated. Noise levels are considered low to moderate.
