Job summary

Central Transport LLC is seeking an Overnight Dock Supervisor in Brooklyn, NY. The role oversees inbound dock operations at a 50-door facility, coordinating forklift traffic and palletized freight, while leading up to 40 drivers and dock staff to meet production schedules.

Ideal candidates will have experience in transportation/logistics, familiarity with customs, and strong leadership and communication skills. Associates or Bachelor's degree are preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee inbound dock operations within a 50-door freight facility.
• Load, manage forklift traffic, and oversee picking/sortation of palletized freight.
• Manage up to 40 local truck drivers and dock personnel to meet production schedules.
• Use independent judgement to build loads based on available labor and freight levels.
• Monitor cube and weight of trailers to ensure proper carrier loading.
• Provide leadership and accountability to drivers and dock workers.

Shift: 2:00am - 12:00pm, Monday - Friday

Salary: Up to $75,000 + bonus (10%)

Ideal Candidate Requirements:

• Experience in a transportation, cross docking, or shipping and receiving environment (preferably within the LTL industry)
• Familiar with customs and cross-border transportation
• Strong leadership qualities
• Desire to surround customer with excellence in service
• High aptitude for technology
• The ability to multi-task while being detail oriented
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• An Associates or Bachelor’s Degree, preferred but not required

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Oversee inbound dock operations within a 50-door freight facility .
• This includes the process of loading, managing forklift traffic, and overseeing proper picking/sortation of palletized freight.
• Manage up to 40 local truck drivers and dock personnel to achieve a designated production schedule.
• Utilizing your independent judgement to build loads based on available labor and freight levels.
• Ensure proper load of carriers by monitoring the cube and weight of trailers
• Provide leadership and accountability to a team of drivers, dock workers and dock hand.
• Monitor dock production, ensuring facility Key Performance Indicator goals are met and/or exceeded.
• Monitor hours and overtime.
• Maintain a safe work environment compliant with state and federal DOT/OSHA standards.
• Ensure company operational model compliance.
• Support a culture of excellence in quality of product to internal and external customers
