Job summary

Apex Fintech Solutions is seeking an entry-level Operations Specialist (Corporate Actions) to support processing of dividends, mergers, stock splits, spin-offs, and tender offers in a fast-paced financial services environment.

You will identify, notify, and process corporate action events, coordinate with internal teams, and help ensure data accuracy and regulatory compliance while learning the lifecycle of corporate actions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or related field or equivalent work experience.
• 0-2 years in financial services; internship in operations, corporate actions, or securities processing is a plus.
• Basic understanding of financial markets and securities types; securities lifecycle familiarity a plus.

Responsibilities

• Corporate Actions Processing: identify, validate, and process mandatory and voluntary events on client accounts.
• Notification & Communication: distribute notices to internal teams and clients; respond to inquiries.
• Reconciliation: assist daily reconciliation of positions and entitlements with custodians.
• Election Processing: collect and submit client elections within deadlines.
• Entitlement Calculations: assist with cash and stock entitlements.
• Compliance & Controls: follow regulatory requirements and internal policies; support audits.
• Issue Resolution: identify discrepancies and processing errors; escalate when needed.
• Reporting: maintain reports on events, status, and outstanding items.

ABOUT THIS ROLE

The Operations Specialist (Corporate Actions) is an entry-level role responsible for supporting the accurate and timely processing of corporate action events. This includes the identification, notification, and processing of voluntary and mandatory corporate actions such as dividends, mergers, stock splits, spin-offs, and tender offers. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and comfortable working in a fast-paced financial services environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Corporate Actions Processing: Assist in identifying, validating, and processing mandatory and voluntary corporate action events, ensuring accurate and timely completion across client accounts.
• Notification & Communication: Distribute corporate action notifications to internal stakeholders and clients; respond to inquiries regarding upcoming or in-progress events.
• Reconciliation: Support daily reconciliation of corporate action positions and entitlements against custodian and depository records to ensure data accuracy.
• Election Processing: Collect and submit client elections for voluntary corporate actions (e.g., rights offerings, tender offers, exchange offers) within required deadlines.
• Entitlement Calculations: Assist with calculating and verifying cash and stock entitlements resulting from corporate action events.
• Compliance & Controls: Adhere to all relevant regulatory requirements and internal policies; support audit and regulatory inquiries as needed.
• Issue Resolution: Identify and elevate discrepancies, missing elections, or processing errors in a timely manner to mitigate risk and financial exposure.
• Reporting: Prepare and maintain reports on corporate action events, processing status, and outstanding items for review by senior team members.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field or equivalent work experience.
• 0-2 years of relevant experience in financial services; internship experience in operations, corporate actions, or securities processing is a plus.
• Basic understanding of financial markets and common types of securities (equities, fixed income, mutual funds).
• Familiarity with the corporate actions lifecycle is a plus but not required; training will be provided.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience or coursework in securities operations, brokerage back-office, or financial services operations.
• Exposure to financial data platforms such as Bloomberg or Reuters.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with SQL or data tools is a bonus.
• Pursuit of or interest in professional certifications such as FINRA Series 99, CFA, or similar designations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies in large data sets.
• Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills for interaction with internal teams and clients.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively under tight deadlines.
• A collaborative mindset and willingness to learn in a team-oriented environment.
• Comfort working with technology and financial systems; adaptable to new tools and processes.
